If you are going to buy the player or anything really:

Why not buy £50 worth of gift vouchers - get a £5 gift voucher free.

Then buy the player (& a battery or something cheap) with the bought gift vouchers - get another £5 gift voucher free

I have thought of this before - think you will find that purchase of Gift Vouchers are excluded from the offer - no surprise there then ;)

**** UPDATE ****

Just read the terms and conditions of the offer....
9. Excludes the purchase of gift vouchers using gift vouchers as a method of payment.

Anyone tried it and know the answer?

The terms and conditions exclude using gift vouchers to buy gift vouchers , quite reasonably , to stop a neverending circle of buy vouchers with vouchers , get one free.
However , in this case , you would use cash or card to buy the vouchers and then , in a seperate transaction , use the vouchers to buy the goods , which as far as I can see is not against the terms stated.
I haven`t tried this myself , but I did something similar last year when Argos had a voucher promotion with no problems.
My wife bought goods worth about £40 and £60 worth of gift vouchers and got a free £10 voucher. I later used £50 worth of the vouchers in store and got another £5 voucher back.
I tried asking the mrs (who works in Argos) if you get a free voucher when you pay with vouchers , but , as she only works there 4 hours a week (Saturday morning) and hardly ever does tills , she didn`t know ( :/ chocolate teapot anybody ?).
Worth a try though , but don`t quote me on it ........... ;)

It does work - as I did about 3 weeks ago when the promotion was last on.

Well I bought an item for over £100 and returned it after 3 days, as it had clearly been used. They never asked me to return the £10.00 voucher?

That`s a free tenner in my book. ;)

Yes, thanks to the advice given in this thread ...

I pre-ordered and collected today:

One Creative Nano Plus 1GB plus a pack of 4 light bulbs for £51.48 and
One Iriver H10 5GB plus a pack of 4 light bulbs for for £101.48

AND I walked out with £30 worth of vouchers valid until 1st Aug 2006!

Not at all bad, and I really needed the light bulbs!

£30 worth? Surely it should have been £15? Or did you manage the buying vouchers/getting extra voucher/paying with vouchers/getting extra voucher thing?

I got the last one in the Hoddeston branch, and also picked up a couple of digital cameras, so many thanks to the OP!

On the subject of vouchers, I was told I couldn`t redeem a voucher and then get one back again (maybe if I had paid over the £50/£100 limit excluding the value of the voucher it might have been OK). So I`ve kept the vouchers for later use.

Another one I`ve missed out on :(

£30 worth? Surely it should have been £15?

Well, you buy 3 x £50 Argos Gift Vouchers separately first, collecting one £5 voucher from the collection Point for each of the three receipts.

Got it?

Then, you go back and purchase the Nano Plus 1GB and a pack of light bulbs for £51.48 using the first £50 Gift Voucher plus a payment of £1.49 and collect another £5 voucher.

Then you purchase the Iriver 5GB and a pack of light bulbs for £101.48 using the second and third £50 Gift Vouchers and a payment of £1.48 and collect a £10 voucher.

So there you have it - a 1GB MP3 player, a 5GB MP3 player, eight Light Bulbs and £30 worth of Vouchers.
