Just been in this morning and they had a medion laptop with intel celeron processor, 256mb and 40gb hd with 15inch monitor half price from £799 to £399, not the best of specs but thought someone might get some use of it.

My 2p-worth :- I`m just replacing my Medion laptop (courtesy of Dell and Reestit Mutton - cheers RM!). It`s less than 18 months old, and the plastic has cracked so badly that the hinge on the screen no longer works, so it`s getting more and more broken every time I open it. I could get it fixed, but I suspect it`s not worth spending the cash, as they`d just replace the whole screen and charge me a couple of hundred as it`s out of warrenty. By all means, go for this bargain; but be aware of the build quality before parting with cash!

Hmm typical they have just put it up to £450 today!!! cheek!
Anyhow can anyone advise if this Medion laptop is any good? My father has a very dated p.c and he was thinking of reverting to a laptop for space reasons too! He mainly only uses his p.c to keep his business info on (stock lists/order/sales etc) do you think this is a good idea/laptop for the money??

Dont know if this is of any help. Staples are selling an entry level Acer laptop for £399, from memory I think it was a celeron, 40gig HD, and cd/dvd writer (yes dvd writer), 256 memory. Not advertised on their website, but should be instore, if its not ask, as there should be large stocks available any time.

Comet are also selling an Acer laptop for £399.99 online with DVD Re-writer (dual layer)

I think the Woolworths Medion laptop is not a very good offer.

Hi there ALl,

Tesco have just got a good selection of Laptops and normal size PC packages for modest money. I`m advised that it`s only an august thing. The brand of all was Acer, I good quality name as I understand.

I have a feeling that the Woolies Medion laptop does not have an integral CD drive, but a separate USB connected drive (if I understood the packaging correctly).
