New deal at Blockbusters

Warney (Competent) posted this on Friday, 5th September 2003, 23:07

Hi guys,

thought I`d take a look in my local Blockbusters for ex rental deals and after looking through piles of dvd`s, many under £7.99 I decided on three, namely Men in Black 2 (2 disc), My little eye and 8 legged freaks.
When I went to the counter, the girl told me that from Monday they are starting a special offer on ex rentals from £7.99 and under - buy one, get one free.

She tried the barcodes tonight and they worked so I picked up another DVD (Harrison sub film) and the four came to £13.98 !

Thought you might like to know - MinB was listed at £5.99

Good spot. I`ll have to check my local Blockbusters, but I hope to God they have something better than MiB2. What an execrable film!

I was in there yesterday evening and for DVD rentals, the 2 night DVDs are going to be extended for seven nights - its not on the in-store displays yet but when I paid I was told that I could keep the DVD till next Friday. I was also told that there`s going to be a mid-week offer to rent three "mid-price" DVDs for £5. (I didn`t ask what "mid-price" meant).

I picked up "Kate and Leopold" (top notch movie) and "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" for £7.99. Both scratched to hell, but played perfectly. Everything "on the floor" at my local Blockies (that is, not displayed on the walls) is £2.75 for seven nights. Everything on the walls is £3.75/ £2.75 for 2 nights. I think "mid price" might mean the £2.75 for 2 night titles. Woo-hoo whatever.

I have an open mind - everything goes in one ear and out the other.

I used to remember the days when the latest VHS rentals were only £2.00, and the older titles were from £1.00 to £1.50.

Those were the days.

Picked up 2 disc spiderman and 2 disk Black Hawk Down for £7.98 bit of a bargain. They also had The Dish (a nice little aussie comedy) for £3.99 but couldn`t see anything to go with it so I`ll have a look around, cheers for the bargain guys.

I picked up Signs & Swordfish for £7.98. And then got 8 Legged Freaks & MiB 2 for the kids for a total of £5.99 !

Some good deals if you are prepared to search for them (My local blockbuster must have over a thousand ex-rental DVDs on display).

Cheers,
Rich.

I had a few to buy in Caerphilly but the offer was not on there according to the staff :( I wish companies would make sure their staff are aware of any offers or promotions they are running .
