Philips MX1060D Home Cinema - £199 at Comet!

JDS (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 19th July 2002, 10:18

Bought this at local (Northampton) store. I assume this is a nationwide offer.

This is a saving of up to £150 on on-line prices -Unbeatable.co.uk etc.

I think it`s because a new model has come out.

I am absolutely delighted so far (I didn`t think I could afford a 400 watt system, 70 w rms per channel) particularly at this price which is the same as the much lower powered Grundig system.

Have tried the Multi Region Hack - System\1,6,7 - then region code, which works fine, but the mute button for multi region does not seem to work.Has anyone else found a way round this?

Hello,

Just brought the Philips System and the Mute button does not work for me either.

Check the Hacks forum for VCD and Macrovision Hacks I posted earlier.

Hi,

I`m interested in one of these. Were they ex display models only or did you get new ones ?. Do you know if they had a few of them ?.

It wasn`t ex display (sealed in a box) but I have since returned to the Northampton store and they don`t have it on display anymore.

So could be a case of shopping around - hope you are lucky!

John

I rang around to get mine and most stores had sold out.

Dont know where you are but Tamworth had some, Walsall have a display model left (I had the last one) and other stores only had 1 or 2 left.

Anyone know where I can obtain a "proper" remote control for this unit as I obtained a display model without the remote and manual.
I have the Manual in .pdf from philips.co.uk.

Does anyone know if One for All 6 (URC-7562) will operate the unit as I cannot do remote hack without a remote!

I am just about to search WEB!

Found Source of Philips remotes:
Philips!
"You may purchase a new remote from our recommended mail ordering
company Dutchwest on 01434 323232"
Cost me approx. £32.82 including shipping and customs as they come from Holland.

Seems to be best to email manufacturers direct in these cases.

I bought the system for £199-00 including a one for all 6 remote worth £30-00 and a three year warranty worth £60-00 as the unit was ex-display with no remote or manual. Add on the £33 for the manufacturers remote and I still think this was a good deal.
