ITV Digital - £79.99

Okay, I know ITV Digital have gone bust, but Dixons are clearing out the reciever for £79.99 (or at least they are in Doncaster)

So you get the free to air stuff at £20 cheaper than the Pace/Grundig boxes.

And who knows, the licence is up for grabs on Tuesday 2nd (I think) so it could be a good deal.

The Pace is the only one of the `normal` boxes to buy. The others are much to slow. Even the Pace is not that fantastic.

I`ve got a Pace DTVA and think it`s a great machine. Doesn`t seem slow at all.

There`s going to be software upgrade for it which will be broadcast on July 22nd which will mean you can access teletext ( 4text etc ) and channels like BBCi

I personaly wouldn`t touch pace box with a 6ft barge pole and you would have to force to pay £7.90 for an wx ITV Box, let alone £79!

Nice to see someone else on the froums Doncaster.

The Pace box was the only one with the `Newer Processor` so it has to be the only one, but when compared to SKY Panasonic & newer Pace & Grundig digiboxes it is slow, BUT Sky digiboxes are crap compared to Free to air boxes, but you can`t get the Sky encryption CAM for the free to air, so we all have to put up with second rate digiboxes. No channel naming, no numbers little frequency & so on. I also wouldn`t touch Pace unless there is no choice.

I think faced with the choice of the Pace free to air adapter (£99) and a Pace ex-itv Digibox (£80) the latter must surely win hands down.

I`ve got one nestling under my bedroom TV and it`s happily picking up the full set of channels from a crappy set-top aerial :-)

I agree Clayts...I expect a lot of you inland readers don`t realise but around the coasts of the UK we can`t get channel 5 as the signal had to be reduced because of causing interference to the French,Dutch transmitters, the ITV boxes give us a real means of receiving it. I read in the paper today that there is to be an announcement on 4th July about ON-ITN-Digital.

certainly a good buy,you can only use the pace box if you have a scart socket on your tv,but the on digi box has rf out!
Panasonic has a free to air box available this month also £99.99.
This will have upgradable software, scart in/out,phono sockets out and rf in/out.
