RE: WBA`s Lee Hughes gets jailed for 6 years...

My brother is a solicitor and according to him six years is about the `going rate` for this kind of offense. He made it much worse for himself by not pleading guilty when it was totally obvious that he was.

My bro also chatted to some of the police that were involved and not one of them had a good word to say about him. They all knew that he was guilty of it but he was still as arrogant as you would imagine a footballer to be. End of career for the ginger one but hey, end of life for the person he drove into. Hardly a fair swap is it...

RE: Anybody seen Infernal Afairs in UK yet?

Good but not great. Nice acting but it falls prey to some of those annoying Asian film `ticks` like replays of events just in case the audience wasn`t following all that close and syrupy love music for whenever there is something sloppy happening. But definitely worth catching.

RE: POP UP ADVERTS ARE KILLING ME

Another way to get rid of the pop-ups is to ditch explorer altogether (`cos it is rubbish) and go and get Mozilla which is much smaller, much faster and much, much better. Not only does it kill pop-ups but flash as well.

RE: X-men

Dvdpacific sell xmen 1.5/2 (region 1 box set) for £16.07 guranteed to get past through customs. I have used them quite a few times and they are one of the best retailers that I have ever used. I have this exact version and very nice it is too :)

Oops, perhaps I should have read that you can`t order online!! D`oh. But find someone who can because this price kills high street retailers.

RE: The curse of Season One`s....

Larry Sanders season one got terrible sales so they said they wouldn`t release any more. Maybe more people would have bought it if not for the fact that some reviews said that the picture quality was worse then their vhs copies. End of the day money talks...

RE: X MEN 1&2 Cheap me thinks !

Nope, I`ve already bought from dvdpacific the x-men collection (which is x-men 1.5 and x-men 2) for £16.35. Very nice :D link here

RE: please advise - projectors ?

Agreed but then anyone that is going to buy a projector to show a movie is more than likely the type of person that is prepared to go just that little bit further (say a few hundred miles) to get the best picture that they can :D

Which is not difficult considering how little sense that they have...

RE: please advise - projectors ?

Not sure how happy the mods will be at pushing other forums but for more information on projectors then you will know what to do with try these: avforums.com which is a UK forum and www.avsforums.com which is the American version.

Both are very friendly and the next generation of projectors are just beginning to show up. The above mentioed Panasonic and the very exciting sounding Sanyo-Z2. A DVI dvd player is apparently much better then a progressive scan dvd player but best of all is a pc. But these are the places to begin mate.

RE: TWO TOWERS-4 DISC PLATINUM EDITION-R1-VERY CHEAP!!

DVDpacific : £17.07(not incl. p&p).

RE: 1966-2003 world cup Champions

I just feel drained after that. What a game, what a performance, what a result.

England, WORLD CHAMPIONS, WOW!

RE: Farscape to return as 4 hour Mini-Series

This is indeed great news although the forums at the site are aflame at the idea that this may well lead to a full season 5...and in certain cases 6 and even 7! Can`t really see this I have to say.

To me this is just the Henson company doing the decent thing and providing a conclusion for a series that they have been hugely involved in. The cliff-hanger at the end of season 4 was incredible but it is the kiss of death if it is not concluded. We can only wonder what no conclusion means to the ability to sell the whole series as a package as well as the effects of people not buying dvd`s because the series effectively had no end. Well it looks as though this is just not the case anymore and evey fan of the series has to be greatful for that.

I for one am very happy at this news :D

RE: Where to get R1 (non Canadian) Cheep?

Another vote for both DVDsoon and (especially great) dvdpacific. Both are good and cheap although I have found pacific to be much the quicker of the two but you can`t really go wrong using either.

RE: What have you lost in an unexpected HDD crash?

How ironic since my laptop died only yesterday! This time (yes, it has happened more then once) I lost very little but with a previous computer I had a fatal error on the HDD and I could get absolutely nothing back. I lost loads of essays, photos and music. Not that I really learnt my lesson in backing things up but I do tend to not store as much stuff on computers as I used too! Annoying things that they are...>:(

RE: ROTK: Christopher Lee is NOT in it!!

To go back vaguely OT having just watched the extended version of TTT I can see why PJ has made the decision that the film can live without Saruman. Most people would assume that he was finished by the end of the film and thus to tidy up a (kind of) non-loose end would just delay the start of the ROTK.

Of course there is also the fact that there is a maximum run time of 3hrs 20 mins at the cinema (as talked about an awful lot at theonering.net) so maybe he has just made the decision that he would prefer to lose stuff at the beginning then he would like to lose stuff at the end. But so far the first two installments have been two of the best films that I have ever had the privilege (and that is what it is, a privilege not a right) to have seen. So I am willing to give the man a chance and actually judge him when I have had the opportunity to have seen the film and not before.

RE: LOTR THE TWO TOWERS 4 DISC Shipping from DVD.CO.UK

Well I`ve just finished watching my region 1 copy and it is simply an incredible film. The DTS is incredibly loud with fantastic directed sounds especially during the fights. The added scenes and the additions to existing scenes add so much to so many characters that it is simply untrue. Quite simply one of the best dvd`s that I own and when the ROTK comes out then I shudder to think about how many times I am gonna come to a grinding halt for a week as I try to watch them all back to back.

Phenomenal movie.

RE: DVD Pacific

And to carry on singing their praises I ordered LOTR:TTT (extended version) at lunchtime last thursday. Got a shipping confirmation 4 hours after the order and using their cheapest postage rates it arrived this morning.

Quite simply DVDpacific rule 8)

RE: Home Cinema Separates or All-in-ones ????

Gotta be seperates as you can chop and change as your mood (and budget) allows and as previously said there is just no contest in terms of quality. The downsides being that it takes more time and knowledge to get a good setup and once you start down the slippery slope then it begins to take over your life!

Trust me, you start to replace your kit from the bottom up and it just never ends!!!

RE: DVD Pacific

Well the packages that I have had from them do have an import `stamp` rather then a sticker and coupled with the growing trend of companies to not include a packing slip means that it is very unlikely that you will get hit for tax. Put it this way mate, I fully intend to use DVD Pacific for all my region 1 orders regardless of whether it is over or under £18.

RE: DVD Pacific

Agree with PeterMc. I had three parcels from these guys all turn up together thanks to the posties....grrr....

RE: So, what DVD`s have you got on order??

TT:EE
Xmen set 1&2
Red Dwarf III

(daren`t order anymore or i`m gonna start running out of food money!)

RE: So what`s your highest score....?

149 but by then it was going so fast it started to make my eyes hurt!

RE: how are amazon for electrical goods?

Bought DVD players a scanner and an XBox from them without any problems at all. Although others are beginning to catch them and in a few cases beat them on price there are very few that beat them on customer service. In this dept. they are simply top notch so I say buy with confidence mate! :D

RE: DVD Pacific - absolutely stunning

no way mate, just a happy customer 8) . import friendly because they include no packing slip and like a few other retailers mark the package to state it contains $20 of software.

Oh, and I ordered LOTR two towers at 1.30 pm yesterday and I got an email at 4.15 to say that it had shipped. So far they are the best US retailer that I have ever used. Having said that I have yet to have any problems but fingers crossed...

DVD Pacific - absolutely stunning

Go and check them out www.dvdpacific.com as they are amazingly cheap, have a really quick turn around and are the most import friendly retailer that I have ever used. I didn`t think that cdwow could be bettered but these guys have managed it 8)

RE: Best LCD Projector for under £1000?

I`m no expert on this mate but I have been reading a few forums and the like and apparently the AE500 is just getting to the US now (along with the much liked Sanyo Z2). Now both of these are going to retail about £1200ish but they should have the effect of driving down the price of the current models. For lots more information (to the risk of overload) check out avsforums

It most certainly is. Commiserations first off though Westy and at least he will recover from it.

But this woman is in serious strife now though. Not only is she guilty of causing an injury but driving away from an accident is itself a crime. With the license plate (as long as it is hers) then it will not be very long at all until she hears someone knocking at her door.

RE: How to find inner peace

But surely `outer peace (or peas)` would most certainly not be peaceful for anyone else that comes into contact with it?! More inner peace would certainly be required then!
