Where to get R1 (non Canadian) Cheep?

MMC (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 29th October 2003, 19:12

Anyone know where to get R1 DVD`s (not Canadian), cheap like Play for example?

Main reason being, R1 Canadian has half English/ half French language on the packaging.

Try DVD Pacific they are as cheap as they come on the majority of titles.

Try a forums search for testimonials to their service.

Hi, I get some of my DVDs from a Canadian site and never had French packaging.

I use www.northamericandvd.com.

I have never been disappointed witht his site

Another vote for both DVDsoon and (especially great) dvdpacific. Both are good and cheap although I have found pacific to be much the quicker of the two but you can`t really go wrong using either.

I think the only stuff I`ve ordered from DVD Soon that has what I would call significant dual-language packaging are the two Lord of the Rings 4-disc sets - everything else tends to just have a box/circle on the outside saying "Version francaise incluse" (good example was Finding Nemo) and some of the promo leaflets have dual-language inside (but not the main movie leaflet, nor the back cover of the DVD).

Of course, you tend to get French and Spanish subtitles/audio with Canadian releases, but that`s no hardship because there`s always English ones too (which are the default).

DVD Soon tend to be the cheapest out there (I couldn`t believe that I ordered Peter Gabriel`s new "Growing Up Live" DVD for a mere CAD$14.98 [6.70 quid] from DVD Soon, though they`ve bumped up the price by CAD$1 now), so for a bit of French-Canadian, I`m willing to "suffer" :)
