RE: Matrix Trilogy Release Date?

I still think that at the start of No. 2 they should have had Michael Palin Jack out on the NebercanezWhatNot and say "And now for something, completely different!"

RE: What Scarts?

Hi there

I think that alot of people here would recomend the ribbon scart from Beyond HiFi (Or at least they used to) I personally have one and think that it was good value for money! The 1.5m is £12

RE: Sony(DVPNS930V) chipped DVD player (by techtronics) flicking the TV onto different AV channels

Interesting one... I am no expert, so I cannot provide you with a perfect solution, but you could you not just remove the pin on the scart lead that handles the auto switch - as a tempory solution you could use an old cable?

RE: Recording from SKY to HD on the Panasonic HS2

I forgot to mention 2nd subscription as well!

RE: Recording from SKY to HD on the Panasonic HS2

Only if you have a 2nd decoder box

RE: CD-ROM FACEPLATES

Yeah as Skyvan says you easily remove and spray the frontplates silver and to good effect! Just get some car paint, wash and dry the plate and spray in a well vetilated area... also make sure you dry in a dust free zone. They should dry enough to replace after 3 hours if sprayed correctly.

But if you do not fancy the idea of this there are websites that offer replacement fronts... but these are usually only available for limited drives. I cannot find any sites at the moment, all the ones that I have seen sell them previously no longer seem to?

RE: women and technology...

Have you made sure mute is off? :p Or how about RTFM?

DVD to amp should have a direct digital link (optical/coax) I would start there... If the sound cable from the DVD player to amp is in place you should deffinately get sound when you play a DVD... If no sound is heard you can then isolate the problem to the amp... Next to look for is, are the speakers correctly connected? (some amps have speaker test options which would confirm this). Anyway hope you have some sucess, and good luck!

Its hard to know what to suggest without a more detailed idea of what you have (inputs/outputs/cables) and also without knowing what you have already done!

RE: Sky Remote control signal transmiters

Thanks everyone...

Yeah Jimbo your right, thats what I was initally in search of. But I didn`t realise the TVLink`s existed. After doing a bit of searching I found TVLink which is covers the requirements we needed. Anyway it arrived, I set it up in my bedroom today without any hassle (it luckly intergrated into the TV distribution system I set up in our house), and it works a dream!

Sky Remote control signal transmiters

Hello everyone

I am in search of one of those devices that allows you to use your remote control from a different room, so if you have the ability to watch you sky output in another room you are also able to change to channel (as long as you take the remote with you). I am sorry I do not know what they are called, but I know they exist.

I wanted to know if anyone has any experiance of them... Do they work well? Also where is the best place to buy them?

Tim

RE: What kind of home cinema system?

It depends greatly upon budget and what level your parents expect! A basic outline is that the top end of performance will be gained from seperate setups, but some of the intergrated systems may provide better performance per buck at the lower end of the scale...

RE: Anyone got a decent bike, they never use?

Perhaps you should try a cycle forum? I am a keen cyclist and frequent a great forum over at www.cycling-plus.co.uk although as I think most people there love what they do they`re unlikely to have one they will give you... But you never know!

RE: HELP!! Schneider dvd 857 Excessive noise

Like Forbes mentions it does seem to be a problem with disc thickness. Plain DVD`s tend to be fine, but ones with a printed or textured top such as my region 1 Fight club seem to produce more noise.... I had the player at university but my reciept was at home, I couldn`t be bothered to try and explain where it was to have it sent to me or for that matter go home and collect it... Anyway I had to deal with the noise. I also found tilting it to a slight angle helps, as well as having some success with placing something on top of it! I still use it and it has provided me good service for about 9 months.

I still get increased noise with some discs but it isn`t too intrusive !

RE: Where`s the cheapest place to buy Nike Trainers on the net?

On a side note -

If your anywhere near Manchester, The Lowry Outlet store has one of the only and largest Nike Factory outlet stores in the UK... They have tonnes of trainers, brand new, and going fairly cheap!

RE: Best film of the year!?!

Pretty similar to others...

Left the cinema most happy after Finding Nemo!
X-men 2 was fantastic as it blew away my sequal expectations...
I had a feeling I wouldn`t like Kill Bill but it was the film that left me wanting more the most... :o)

RE: Is it rude to stick your middle finger up at a mobile speed camera? (I wasnt speeding)

Neiliboy forgive me if I am mistake but I have a couple of questions...

1. Were the police mistaken when they issued you your points?
2. What speed we you doing when you were caught? And what was the limit in that area?
3. Do you understand the concept of Law?

You commited a criminal Offence and whether you like it or not, you were in the wrong.... Behaving like an immature baffoon because you were caught is quite ridiculous!!

Sorry but there is a point to speed limits, and almost everyone in here seems to think that they have the right to be above them? However much a capeable driver you think you are, however fast your flash car (Or peice of scrap) can go, however quiet the roads may be, the law is the law. I`m interested to see how many of you have commited murder?.... Dealed class A drugs? Or pehaps commited rape? Any offers?.... No? Hmmmm strange.

RE: Which is the most ANTICIPATED movie release.

Hey Chewie

Must admit I am a massive Star Wars fan, (Used to post on here as Stiffler before I lost my account details - Probably never noticed me). And I was totally the same before Episode I... And although the realisation of seeing it left me unhappy after the Cinema, I ended up loving when I got it on DVD. AOTC was bloody fantastic at the Cinema (Although I haven`t enjoyed it as much on DVD).

Anyway are you really looking forward to the Duel the most? My view on it was that as they are both very much alive in A New Hope that there wouldn`t be much too it? The both obviously get away for one! I am more interested in seeing the turn of Anakin, the Padmé`s destiny, and even how and why Leia and Luke ended up where they did... I know alot of this can be guessed at, but I really want oto see how George finishes HIS puzzle!

Tim

ps: I can`t wait for Kill Bill Vol.2

RE: Tiscali broadband

Nildram offer 512k at £22.99 which I realise is a bit more... But your getting one of the best services there is available and a good speed!

RE: TV Contrast/Brightness settings?

Star Wars Episode I, II, Terminator 2 and presumably others all contain THX setup guides (Contained in the language menu at the start - Look for the THX letters they are not always completely obvious at first glance) on the which should help you in getting a good colour, brightness setting on your Television. At least you can use them as a good start point - I find the settings to be very close to my personal preferance...

I suggested them as they are a more likely obtainable source as opposed to a dedicated setup disc!

RE: Which companies are best for getting you a temp job?

I`ve had great experiance with Office Angels and I know a few friends who live and have worked for them in London - Enfield, and Kingston (I presently work for the Manchester branch).

Another Agency I have experiance with is Adecco and they are quite good too... I have another Friend who works for them in Enfield...

RE: "ALL PARTS" in Rochdale are a bunch of Tw*ts!

Oh bloody hell more bad Rochdale press

I evidently live in an area full of W***ers!!! I really need to get out...

Tim

RE: Old VHS Tape

I totally agree Chewie... I alway hated music and video tape!! Even without reason such as knowing better. I just found the formats primitive and unclean even rough around the edges. When CDs came along I was amased that such a clean and pefect system had been created... and when DVD`s came about I was sooooo happy.

RE: STAR WARS EPISODE 3 SCRIPT SEGMENTS ONLINE!!!

LOL how when I read the topic did I already know it was going to be by you chewie ? :p

RE: Petrol Going up 5p per gallon

Wouldn`t make much difference to us its mostly tax as it is!

Anyway I think more people should be complaing about the price of water!!! I was in a service station the other day and a 700ml bottle of water set me back £1.60 thats more thn petrol per litre by alot !!!

Tim

RE: This is brilliant - You MUST try this

Must say I was incredibly amused by this as I was acting it out as I read it and when I checked to see my leg had changed direction it was just the comedy timing of it all....

Classic

RE: Funniest line or scene in "Only Fools and Horses" ?

The recent episode with: "whats Duck in french?"
Rodney - "Its Canard"
Del - "You can say that again...!"

RE: Pre-ordering - what the hell`s the point?

Yeah thanks to you fantastic posties my expired passport went missing and I had to fill in a pile of extra forms and pay more money to get a new one... Then 2 months later it turns up on my mat.... after not being franked or whatever you call it, so the stamp cannot be used again? And recently we`ve been lucky if 1st class mail arrives in under a week. We have even posted ourselves a few letters as it was getting so bad we wanted to make sure people were not lying to us. Sorry but I haven`t been impressed with the Royal mail one little bit lately!!

Sorry about the rant, but I have seen nothing to suggest that the postal service is a good one over the past few months.

Tim

RE: scart advice

Can`t tell a difference personally but I like the look of the ribbon more.... Good quality leads though.
