This is my review of the Region 1 disc. Set in the 60`s, the movie is a simple one. Scotty Smalls moves into a new neighbourhood and has trouble making friends. He finds out that the local kids are into baseball at a sandlot and tries to get into it and blend in with them. At first he is outcast but soon he gains their friendship. They spend all summer playing baseball and getting up to all sorts of wild adventure. This is a tale about childhood adventures and friendship.

The video is very clean and usually quite sharp. The colours used are quite vibrant despite the movie being set in the 60`s. Overall this does work quite well. The region 1 version comes with a choice of anamorphic widescreen and fullscreen versions. The disc is a flipper but that does not bother me that much.

The sound on the region 1 disc is also superior as it is a DD 5.1. This is a great soundtrack that makes some decent use of the surround. The music soundtrack of the movie is also a good one.

The region 1 version come with a decent set of extras despite being a small low budget movie. There is an interesting making of featurette but it doesnt last that long and there are some tv spots and trailers. To top that off there are English and Spanish subtitles.

A great fun kids movie that kids and adults will enjoy. Brings back a few childhood memories of when I used to play with my friends. The region 1 disc is superior to the region 2 but if you cant get hold of the region 1, the region 2 looks decent enough to settle for. Its at a bargain price so nothing really to lose. Go For It !
