Review of PSI Factor: Series 3 Vol. 3.6

    3 / 10

    Introduction

Another disc exploring case files from the fictional Office of Scientific Investigation and Research dealing with all things unexplained. This disc contains 3 episode from the latter half of of season 3.

`School of Thought` - After a bizarre accident at a school the OSIR are brought in to investigate the matter. The primes suspect is a student whom they suspect might have telekinetic powers but there`s more going on than meets the eye.

`Y2K` - a tale of high tech death as bug the Y2K bug becomes a real threat.

`Tribunal` - when a case goes terribly wrong Matt Praeger and his team are suspended and face a tribunal to investigate their actions. Someone is out to make sure they get dismissed but who and why?

    Video

The picture quality is pretty much what you might expect from a low budget TV show. It`s a full frame 4:3 transfer and suffers from lack of detail and weak colour presentation. As a TV series it`s a completely average transfer.

    Audio

A totally bog standard Pro Logic soundtrack with nothing to stick in the mind. The sounds is clear and unmuffled however it`s totally unexciting and typical of a TV to DVD sound transfer.

    Features

The extras on this disc are an exact duplicate of the ones found on the previous Psi Factor disc. Extremely lazy and showing no thought for any fans who might be collecting the series.

    Conclusion

I`ve said all I can about comparisons between this series and The X-Files in my review of the previous disc in the series so I won`t go into that again. After watching the previous disc I was interested to see if watching another 3 episode would get me more involved in the series however it hasn`t.

The episodes here are pretty weak and uninteresting with the low point being the last episode on the disc, `Tribunal`. This episodes tries to add some ongoing story interest with the standard conspiracy theory plot which has been done to death just about everywhere else. Perhaps the writers forgot that an ongoing storyline needs to actually appear in other episodes as well?

Anyhow, if you`re a fan of the series you`ll already own this disc if not then avoid it - it`s simply not a good TV show.
