A great film. The story is similar to the Dirty Dozen with some convicts being given the chance to redeem themselves with military service.
What we get is Sammo Hung and a great supporting cast in a gritty and entertaining movie. This should be pointed out, this is darker and more emotional than your average HK film and all the better for it.
As expected, the action scenes are well designed and executed. The characters are stereotypical (your loony, pyscho, tough guy etc) but you end up caring for them all. The film features death, betrayal, freindship and loyalty. There is no cop out from the harsh environment of war.
The DVD has a nice transfer and useful extras as well. See it NOW.
