    Review of Shattered Trust

    7 / 10

    Introduction

A lawyer takes on a tough case, a case that involves one of the most terrible crimes, and discovers an awful secret from her own past. Her attempts to confront this secret with her parents are met with a stone wall. Her work begins to suffer as well, as she accepts more cases of the same type, only to be defeated by a justice system that seems to favour the accused.

Melissa Gilbert (Little House on the Prairie) stars in this compelling story of how one person decided to change to law and make the justice system for incest victims fairer.

    Video

The picture is pan and scan framed at 1.33:1. The image is a little disappointing in that it is quite soft and the colours muted.

There is not much evidence of interference from noise or dirt on the print, which is good, although it can become a little tiring to watch due to the softness.

Better has been produced but also a lot worse, so there can be no real complaints, as this was probably not given the benefits of a blockbuster budget when in production.

    Audio

The audio track is 2.0 stereo, which while not setting the world alight with its technical brilliance does do an adequate job.

It is easy to listen to and there is no hiss or interference.

A 5.1 track would have been nice as always, but the movie does not suffer without it.

    Features

Scene access and interactive menus are the standard fare on this disc.

    Conclusion

I was a little wary of this film after I read the blurb as it was not of a subject that I would immediately go out to watch a film about.

    I was pleasantly surprised.

This is a very powerful film that has an extremely strong story line about a shocking topic, but it is dealt with in a very sympathetic way. What is more shocking about the story is the attitude of the justice system, rather than the awful crime that has been committed.

I would recommend this film, not as a film to have on in the background, but as something to sit down and watch and digest. It is a good story that has been well told.
