Review for The Book Thief

10 / 10

If you like a story that will make you cry, make you laugh and hold you gripped until the very last page, the book thief is an excellent choice.

Markus Zusak had the brilliant idea of choosing Death to narrate The Book Thief. It is about a 9 year old girl called Liesel Meminger who is sent to live with foster parents, on the poor Himmel street as the outbreak of war draws closer, and Hitler's grip on Germany becomes increasingly stronger.

It is hard to pick out exactly what makes this book so special. It could be the unique narration, the amazing characters, the small facts Death includes, the tragedy or just that fact that Liesel is an amazing girl. All in all, The Book Thief is a truly amazing book and I am not ashamed to say that I cried through at least a 100 pages.
