Review for WWE: DX One Last Stand

    8 / 10

DX (Shawn Michaels HBK and Triple H) are one of the main factors in the rebuilding of the WWE and their success during the Attitude era. Along with Stone Cold Steve Austin they were able to revolutionize the business. During their final stint which covers the time from 2009 to HBK's retirement in 2010 and because of this, it may be the last time that we ever see them… in this form at least.

HBK and Triple H are possibly the greatest superstars in and out of the ring. The humour that these two are able to create never feels forced, just two people hanging out and having a good time and although some of it is hit and miss I have to admit I haven't smiled or even laughed so much while watching wrestling in a long time. What makes these two special is they can go from a funny segment with Dusty Rhodes or Hornswoggle or a hilarious one with HBK working the grill in a cafeteria and then still go out and have the best match of the night too.

The DVD is a mix of sketches, DX promoting their merchandising or just in general goofing around and matches. Of the thirteen matches they are all tag matches facing the likes of Legacy, JeriShow, Hart Dynasty and ShowMiz. It features every important match they had as a team and these include a great Hell in a Cell match against Legacy and an even better TLV match against JeriShow. There are no bad matches on here, but I do think that maybe they should have included a few of the singles matches that Triple H and HBK had at the time. One of the reasons is they spend a good chunk of time discussing the Triple Threat between Triple H, HBK and Cena and then we don't see it and that's a shame. There is also no mention of the feud with The Undertaker, though they do include HBK's Raw Farewell, which is a little odd and probably should have been included as an extra.

One of my only issues with this set is that it did feel like they simply took every segment from Raw/Smackdown and PPV and included it without thinking about the quality. If they had cut a few of the in ring sketches they could have included some classic DX matches and moments from the past as the only extra is a strange mix of a 'Behind the Scenes/Bloopers' which shows them fluffing their lines, making other wrestlers laugh and also a very rare sight of Stephanie McMahon (Triple H's real wife) calling him 'Honey'. It's a shame it is only a few minutes as it is very funny and maybe WWE should think about releasing a Bloopers DVD at some point.

DX One Last Stand is a great set for DX fans, fans of Triple H and Shawn Michaels or Tag Wrestling. Though a little hit and miss with what is on here it is still a great DVD and I would be surprised if a multiple disk 'Definitive DX' set is not released. This is definitely a great set though and all I got is two words for you: Buy it!
