Disney Unveils Unprecedented Combo Packs in 2009
WALT DISNEY STUDIOS HOME ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES EXCITING NEW BLU-RAY™ OPTIONS OFFERING CONSUMERS GREATER ACCESSIBILITY AND VALUE THAN EVER BEFORE
Disney Unveils Unprecedented Combo Packs in 2009, Offering Consumers Worldwide Both Blu-ray and DVD Discs…In A Single Package! Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment (WDSHE) is giving film fans the chance to future-proof their DVD collections by launching new Blu-ray + DVD Combo Packs this year.
Following the successful trial of a combo pack with the Sleeping Beauty's 50th Anniversary Platinum Edition late last year the company has announced a new raft of hit titles which will also be made available in a pack boasting dual formats of Blu-ray together with a standard DVD between February and October this year.
These include the teen phenomenon High School Musical 3: Senior Year (February 16), Walt Disney's animated classic Pinocchio: 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition (March 9) and all those leading up to the highly anticipated release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Platinum Edition in October.
President of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment Bob Chapek said: "These unique Combo Packs provide the opportunity for consumers around the world to take advantage of the quality of Blu-ray with the portability of a DVD disc in a single package. The inclusion of the feature film on standard definition DVD allows consumers without Blu-ray players to future-proof" their collections. It also means those who already have a Blu-ray player at home will have an additional disc for other standard players around the house and portable systems for when they are one the move.
As part of its continued worldwide Blu-ray release efforts, WDSHE is adding many exciting new titles toline-up in North America, Europe and Asia. Titles include new theatrical releases, catalog, direct-to-video products and top television series.
In the UK WDSHE will roll-out the Blu-ray formats of Space Buddies (Walt Disney Pictures), Pretty Woman (Touchstone) and High School Musical 3: Senior Year (Walt Disney Pictures) in February; Pinocchio: 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition (Walt Disney Pictures) in March and Beverly Hills Chihuahua (Walt Disney Pictures) in April; and Monsters Inc. (Disney/Pixar) sometime in 2009
