`RUN FOR YOUR WIFE` - IS THIS THE WORST MOVIE EVER MADE?

It`s been called "as funny as leprosy", "a catastrophe", and "30 years past its sell-by-date". Ray Cooney`s new film, `Run For Your Wife`, based on his hit 1983 stage farce, has made the headlines for the sheer awfulness of its reviews.

Thought you knew what the worst film ever made was? Well we may just have a new contender for the top prize, as Brit-flick, `Run for Your Wife` receives an absolute panning.
The Independent gave it an massive thumbs down, with reviewer Anthony Quinn writing: "It will be lucky to run for nine days. Perhaps never in the field of light entertainment have so many actors sacrificed so much dignity in the cause of so few jokes... From the look of it, Cooney hasn`t been in a cinema for about 30 years."

Meanwhile Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian says: "The humour makes `The Dick Emery Show` look edgy and contemporary" and that it is likely to make cinema viewers want to put their head in the gas oven.

Released on Valentine`s Day, the film stars Dyer as a bigamist taxi driver trying to keep his wives (played by Denise Van Outen and Sarah Harding) away from each other. The Daily Mail`s Christopher Tookey said Dyer`s performance as a loveable rogue was "as loveable as decomposing roadkill".

The film also features a number of A-listers in cameos. These include Cliff Richard and Rolf Harris as buskers during the opening credits; Neil Morrissey sitting on a chocolate cake; Richard Briers falling into a hedge and Christopher Biggins pushing Lionel Blair derrière-first through a bathroom floor. There`s even a role for Dame Judi Dench as a bag lady in a fright wig.

In what was likely an indication of the terror to come, `Run for Your Wife`, in 2011 Cooney said he`d seen three Hollywood drafts of the film, with budgets attached as high as $24 million. Cooney eventually chose to write the film himself and set it in London.
While `Movie 43` -- which opened earlier this month -- was panned as "the Citizen Kane of awful," it looks like `Run for Your Wife` is set to be an even bigger turkey.

Genuinely saddened by this news. Richard Briers was a unique character - Tom Good, Roobarb..

The BBC described him as one of Britain`s best loved actors - ain`t that the truth?

He still has an upcoming role in Cockneys vs Zombies, BTW.

To this day I still tend to do Tom Good`s daft little `somewhere over the rainbow` whistle.

Been listening to some of the Dr at Large series 4 extra are running as well.
