Well, I`m well chuffed!

There have been a few people knocking the quality of this camera, and although I`d never have bought it at £300, it`s an absolute steal at £100!!!!

My 30 month old Fuji 1.5megapixel M500 FinePix is on it`s last legs now, so timing couldn`t have been better. I couldn`t justify spending top dollar on a new camera so this sounded ideal.

Having compared the functionality - the Kodak is pretty crap compared to the Fuji, no self timer, no manual white balance. But it is MUCH faster at taking the picture (I miss less quickies snaps now) & the image quality is far superior.

The difference between "Better" & "Best" is down to the amount of compression used - as the actual resolution is the same. And the lower compression of the "best" is noticably better.

I for one am well chuffed with the bargain.

RE: MMC Media Cards?

Thanks Roger & Ravi, good bargains indeed!

MMC Media Cards?

Anyone recommend where to buy more MMC/SD flash memory (UK)?

£90 for a 64Mb Kodak card...I think not!

The price seems to be double that of the (now getting cheaper) Compact Flash/Smart Media cards from the few places I``ve looked at.

Any suggestions anyone?

RE: Kodak digital camera worth £300 for £100 PLUS loads of accessories

I got email confirming they had accepted the order (as per earlier post) AND a letter through snail mail (actualy the invoice) stating my card had been charged & the item despatched. I received the letter this morning at home. The camera arrived around 9am this morning at my nominated (work) address. And YES you do get the docking station, 32Mb card, paper & a £7 voucher for tnirp[at]kadok (you can use for pictures T-shirts, mugs, that sort of stuff.

The charging of the batteries? Let you know but I read that you need to leave it charging for at least 2 hours (taking it out of the dock and replacing it when the light goes green) even if the charge light goes green before then (mine went green after around 1h1/2).

RE: Kodak digital camera worth £300 for £100 PLUS loads of accessories

Well, I posted of a couple of registered letters a few days back. I await the response with eager anticipation!

Who else here has formally contacted Kodak with the threat of legal action?

It`s been pretty quiet in this thread lately, is the cause running out of steam???

RE: Kodak digital camera worth £300 for £100 PLUS loads of accessories

I am about to send of a letter to Kodak based on the one suggested by Dan on page 17 (thanx Dan).

I have heard that the inclusion of the statement "Without Predjudice" at the begin of legal correspondence is very usefull to enable you to change information at a later date & not be tied down to a statement or infference made missguidedly....or something???

Can anyone shed any light on this, or recommend - or not - its use in this instance.

Many thanks

RE: What are these

I have just read your article in the Features section, Dan & very interesting reading it makes.

I would like to contact Kodak in the manner suggested in the feature, do you or anyine else know where and to whom complaints should be sent?

RE: Kodak digital camera worth £300 for £100 PLUS loads of accessories

Yes I agree, but surely that`s BEFORE the sale is completed NOT after? My argument would be that as a receipt has been issued AND a CONTRACT entered (their words not mine) the sale is complete. Therefore they`re stuffed!

It may only be a small deal to most - but this could be setting a prescedent on internet pricing/advertising. What if it`s a £50,000 car next?
If there is no need for companies to correctly advertise or can back out of a deal `cause of their own incompetence it opens the door for intentionally miss-pricing items just to hook potential customers. This fiasco has already proved how "too good to be true" deals can get around the internet comunity like wild-fire (10K orders taken over the New Year Holiday!) Sounds like a way for free advertising to at our expense to me. That can`t be right, can it?

RE: Kodak digital camera worth £300 for £100 PLUS loads of accessories

As far as I`m concerned the confirmation Email was a receipt of purchase & Kodak stated it was a CONTRACT.

They try to weedle out using the incorect price @ point of sale crap. Up until very recently, your credit card transaction would take days to confirm (remember when it used to be swiped through that tracing paper malarky?)

Here`s the scenario....you go to a store, pick up some goods, take it to the till. You hand over your card, they swipe the details (they now have your info, but no confirmation). They issue a receipt. You walk down the street. They THEN spot the pricing error & chase you down the street saying "sorry we goofed, can I have my goods back?! What are you gonna say then????

If your credit card were to bounce THEN they`d have legal repurcusions on you and demand the goods back.

Kodak issed a receipt - they took the card details WHAT`S THE DIFFERENCE!

Nowhere on the Receipt or their Terms & Conditions does it say anything about you "offering" to buy the goods.

Here`s hoping

RE: VCD

Make absolutely sure the VCD complies to the VCD specification first. If anything doesn`t comply (resolution, frame rate, audio frequency, etc) it may not recognize it as a VCD.

If it does comply, then as the earlier posts say, it maybe your machine will only play stamped VCD`s - not home grown cd based.

My friends Sony is the same.

RE: What DVD player to buy???????????

I`ve got an Afreey LD-2060, it`s available through second spin for around £160

It`s true multiregion (not region 0 bypass) with macro disable allthrough the remote - so no chipping required or waranty issues.

It plays DVD, VCD, SVCD, XVCD, XSVCD, CD, MP3, and miniDVD and raw mpeg files (with firmware upgrade via CD rom file)

Has DTS 5.1 decoder & channel outs, optical & digital audio out, composite, single scart & RGB video outputs too!

It`s built around a DVD ROM drive, so very easy to upgrade the drive if required and firmware is easily upgradeable too.

Check out Clayts xxxcellant site www.area450.co.uk for more details.

Cheers
