HAVE A SAMSUNG 511 ,IT WILL PLAY EVERYTHING EXCEPT VCD`S . THESES ARE NOT GENUINE BUT THE MANUAL SAYS IT SHUOLD , I HAVE A FRIEND WITH A WHARFDALE AND HE DOES NOT HAVE ANY PROBS CAN ANYONE HELP

The 511 will play VCD, but copies are often made on CD-Rs. A lot of DVD players can not read them.

Try copying them to RW discs. Some DVD players will play RW but not CD-R`s

Make absolutely sure the VCD complies to the VCD specification first. If anything doesn`t comply (resolution, frame rate, audio frequency, etc) it may not recognize it as a VCD.
If it does comply, then as the earlier posts say, it maybe your machine will only play stamped VCD`s - not home grown cd based.
