Very unlucky, sounds like it`s the disc that is causing the problems, but could be a bit of both. Send it back to Amazon and if i was you I would try changing my supplier. Have u tried Play247.com or under18.org.uk. Good service, good prices!!!! Check em out!

The ALBA 103 is multi region out of the box, but unfortunatley cannot get round RCE. Solution, buy the ALBA 104 (Woolworths) £149.99, multi-region, RCE friendly, built in 5.1 decoder, but does have it`s macrovision enabled. Sound and picture is good!!!

Thank you for that - but i never said that i had navigational difficulties did I. I said that I had problems playing the film - "should not affect you enjoyment of the feature presentation!!" that is what is annoying me the fact that the leaflet states that your enjoyment of the film will not be affected!

GOOD NEWS FOR ALBA OWNERS!!!!!1

In case you didn`t know ALBA 103 is multiregion out of the box, and you can bypass the RCE using the digest function, however there is a slight pause during chapter change. however it does have slight problems with Columbia Tristar discs, particularly the Patriot.

ALBA 104 is multiregion, no problems with Columbia Tristar discs, built in 5.1 decoder and is RCE friendly!!!!!

Alba Model 103 is already multi region - but is sold for as R2 for legal reasons. RCE can be bypassed using digest function but there is a slight pause during chapter change.

Alba Model 104 is already multi-region sold as R2 (as above), built in 5.1 decoder and is RCE FRIENDLY!!!No s!$t!!!

I`m having problems playing T2 on My Alba 104. It screws up around chap. 36 on both instances of the film. Anyone else having probs?

The reason for this is that NTSC/R1 videos and DVD`s have more lines than pal. Your DVD player should be capable of outputting R1 in PAL format and this should reduce the brightness.

Sounds like a physical problem with the player itself, if it were a software problem then the film would not have played at all. You should be okay if it`s under guarantee.

COAX or Optical?

I know that both coaxial and optical cables provide a digital out source, but is there any difference in quality

It depends on how muvh money you have to spend, budget wise, ALBA 104, multiregion, RCE friendly, excellent sound and picture and it`s got built in games, i like it. If your rich then go for the new pioneer model 717 I think

How good is the ALBA 104? - Any Macrovision hacks?

After having many problems with my ALBA 103 (for example It didn`t really like Columbia Tristar Discs, esp. The Patriot, couldn`t watch it!) I took it back to where I bought it from, got my money back and bought the ALBA 104 having been told that it has eradicated all the problems the 103 had. I was quite impressed.
Multi region capabilities.
RCE friendly - honestly!
Built in 5.1 decoder.
Improved zoom function and to be honest i can`t fault it apart from the fact that it has Macrovision enabled.

Can anybody shoot this budget multregion player down I ask you?
