RE: Sick of so called fans !!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, he`s going to do his time back here, and we`ll probably let him out by Christmas.
It`s always funny how long it takes some muppet out there to blame the police for it and claiming how they went round beating up anyone they could get near to.
IMO if your in the vicinity of a riot and you`re stood within baton swinging distance of a policemen then you`re fair game. These things aren`t very difficult to avoid if you want to.

RE: Excuse needed to buy Laurel & Hardy box set

Mr C Martin from Northumberland doesn`t seem too keen on it.

Here`s his review on amazon:

"Do not bother buying this item. It is missing four feature films from Laurel and Hardy, and the sad thing is there is NO reason for this whatsoever. It is missing The March Of The Wooden Soldiers, Bonnie Scotland, Fra Diavolo (The Devil`s Brother) and The Flying Deuces. Stupidly it ignores the purist and fails to put the items in chronological order and wastes DVD space by including hideous colour versions and pointless foreign versions. This space could have been better utilised by putting the above mentioned films in and the cameo appearances Stan and Ollie made in other people`s films. Best compilation to date I suppose, but still bitterly disappointing that it is INCOMPLETE. Buy the BENELUX DUTCH VERSIONS INSTEAD from Universal Films Amsterdam, through www.bastamusic.com
Wait and buy their own COMPLETE box-set in chronological order, due out in the autumn of 2004 which contains ALL the features you want to see and no colourised and/or foreign versions, which frankly are a complete and utter waste of time, money and space."

Anyone know anything about this other set in the autumn?

RE: Gordon Ramsey gives it some...

I had a look at the local newspaper website yesterday. There's a story about the show. Apparently GR knew those scallops were off before they were even cooked, but he said it would make great TV if they played along.
The owner isn't too happy as they didn't tell her that the show was to be called Kitchen Nightmares.
Still, who cares, easily the best thing on TV for ages.

RE: Gordon Ramsey gives it some...

He couldn`t taste the difference between beef and pork, and was still surrounded by rotting food a month after Ramsey had spent a week with him. I think he needed more than just training.

RE: Buffy the Vampire Slayer - worth getting?

If you`re going for Buffy, the first three seasons are a worthwhile buy. After that they started to go downhill, they are watchable but not really re-watchable.

The X-Files is generally better all round, especially if you`re not too keen on kid-friendly. Go for seasons 1-5, then the film. After that you should be able make your own mind up.

Matchstick Men 5.1?

Anyone got a copy of this on R2 yet? If so is it really only Digital Surround as advertised?

RE: Tom and Jerry Classic Cartoons Vol 1 Fred Quimby out 5 April on R2

Mark, dvd.co.uk appear to be selling 1 & 2 both for £9.99 together. Like I said, I think it`s a mistake.

RE: Mel`s Passion certified

Come on chaps, leave the guy alone.

Can`t wait for this one though, it should be the Mother of all Blockbusters, One Mans Search for Peace in Our Time. :p

RE: Tom and Jerry Classic Cartoons Vol 1 Fred Quimby out 5 April on R2

dvd.co.uk are advertising Tom & Jerry Classic Collection Vols 1 & 2 for £9.99. Looks like a mistake as they don`t seem to have any info and give the release date as 12th April 2004 when Vol 2 isn`t available until a month later.

RE: Mark & Lard - leaving Radio 1

Radio 2 will be richer, and Radio 1 much, much poorer.
Whoever replaces them, you can guarantee that the show will be jam packed with opportunities to text in for as many tenuous reasons as possible. Moyles "buzz off" slot at 7:20 every day just takes the p**s.

Tarantinos "Special Stuff"

I`m trying to decide whether to get Kill Bill Vol1 now or wait until Vols 1 and 2 come out together later on in the year. Unfortunately Tarantino `s not helping much with the decision.

"I`m thinking about it big time already," he said. "I can`t imagine a better movie when it comes to great DVD stuff. I`m gonna really play fair as far as the DVD`s concerned, you know? We`ll come up with separate DVDs for Volume 1 and Volume 2 and I`ll do special stuff for each of those. Then we`ll come up with a real big version with them both together but I won`t repeat the special stuff I put on Volume 1 and Volume 2. I`ll do something whole other from that. I might even do some other little movie thing just to go on that special double feature version."

Anybody got any thoughts?

And, if George Lucas came out with similar comments about Star Wars, wouldn`t he just get creamed for it?

RE: I have been here for three years now...blimey!

Rik, A friendly piece of advice from someone significantly older than you.
Don`t ever use the phrase "avec moi". It makes you sound like a complete tit. :)

RE: TV & Movie stars you thought were HOT!!!! when you were growing up

Excellent idea, mate

You`re talking about Erin Gray, and she was hot, but not as hot as the girl in The Fall Guy (Heather Thomas).

Didn`t slag off his rug did he?

RE: 2 Bargains @ Play

Looks good, but does anyone no why it isn`t suitable for synthetic corks.

RE: Friends boxset packaging

Thanks, in that case I don`t think I`ll bother. I`ll just switch on C4 and wait twenty minutes or so, for an episode to appear.

Friends boxset packaging

Amazon, choices, play and dvd are selling friends boxsets for around £17-18 at the moment. Does anyone know whether these are in new digipacks or just old snapper cases in a new cardboard sleeve?

cheers

RE: John Barnes

He wasn`t as bad as Blackburn. I`m just glad I`m the only person who watched it

RE: Tiger Woods 2004

Sorry to put a dampener on things, but the official X Box mag said if you own 2003 there`s no point in getting 2004.

2003 is a good game, but not being able to save during an 18 hole round is really bloody annoying, and is it me, or is putting just a bit of a lottery?

If you can cancel your order it might be worth waiting for Links LS instead

RE: Very Much So and other annoying phrases

People who start a sentence with "Put it this way", before they tell you something.

"No win situation"

and my all-time favourite, "touch base". You know your in the company of a real t*ss*r when that one comes out.

RE: NYPD BLUE Season 1 £24 at Bensons World

sod that then
£15.99 @ play
Is there something wrong with these discs or what?

RE: NYPD BLUE Season 1 £24 at Bensons World

£17.99 @dvd.co.uk
It would be rude not to.

RE: official xbox magazine

Moto GP
DOA 3
Halo
Splinter Cell
JSRF
..... and something else I can`t remember

Diamonds are Forever - Bonusmateriale

I just got a copy of Diamonds Are Forever from play yesterday. On the back, instead of saying Special Features like the other Bond discs I own it says Bonusmateriale. Every other word on the disc cover and enclosed booklet is in English. Can anyone explain why?

RE: Play and Customs

thanks,

so why did splash call themselves under 18 before?

I was assuming the "under18" bit was relevant

Play and Customs

I know this is an old chestnut, but I`ve had a look around the old threads and can`t the answer I`m looking for.

If I buy LOTR R2 from play at £22.49:

a) How likely is it that I`ll have to pay the postman VAT/customs/PO handling charge?

and

b) How much is it likely to be?

cheers

RE: Monsters Inc - Region 2/4 not 4:3

Ratt, I misled you before, I`ve double checked this. When I set my dvd player for a 16:9 TV I get a fullscreen picture on my 4:3 set, when I set my player for a 4:3 TV I get the anamorphic widescreen version. I hope that clears things up. Hope you have success.

RE: We Were Soldiers

WWS sounds like a worthwhile purchase. I was wondering, how does Mel work in the "the English are scum" angle into this one.

RE: Monsters Inc - Region 2/4 not 4:3

I watched the Collectors Edition last week on a 4:3 TV and a Sony 725 dvd player. When the film started it defaulted to 4:3. in order to change the view to widescreen I changed the screen settings on the dvd player from 4:3 to 4:3 letterbox. Maybe you can do something similar in reverse. This may not be the most user friendly way but it does enable you to watch in either format.
