Futureent blatently rip us off!

Shaun (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 24th April 2001, 13:18

Hi
A star is born is for sale for 3 different prices depending on which page you go to. Under A its £13.99 , under S its £17.99 and under their sale section its £10.99.

Having ordered it for £13.99 on sunday and after browsing the sale section last night and finding the same disc for the cheaper price i phoned them today and was told tough luck.

apparently its up to us to look thru every page on their web site before we place our orders to check its not cheper in a different section. i`m just glad i did`nt order it from the "s" section and get stung for £17.99.

I also asked if this was available for £10.99 on sunday when i ordered and they said yes !

I dont know about you lot but they are making an extra £3.00 for sending out the exact same disc which takes the exact same amount of effort.

I know if i walked into woolies thru one door and bought a disc for £13.99 and left thru another door seeing the same disc for £3.00 cheaper they`d refund the difference.

BTW i dont need the £3.00 but it a matter of principle..i`ve spent £100 - £150 quid with this firm since i found them early this year and for them to just say tough luck ..well business must be good

HHHRRUMPPHHH!!!!

not the best advert for customer service!

i know what you mean though. their `cheap sale` has now expanded to 11 pages and not to have another link on the site with the cheap price on is rediculous. it amazes me that they expect us to cycle through each page one by one.

still some bloody good prices though.....

You are right they are bloody good prices but they should update thier site so that the same disc is priced the same under all sections.

At the moment its just "pot luck" if you know every page of the site or pick the right page you might get it cheaper and if you dont then its "tough luck".

clayts as an ex trading standards officer what the story with this one?

I think the key here is always to go thru their sale prices, even though it`s a bit of a bind (blimey, I remember when it was on one page).

At the end of the day they are well within their rights to show different prices - remember as a customer you enter a contract when you agree to purchase something (we`ve all done it - bought something then found a cheaper one in the same shop), so if you agree to, say £13, and the retailer is happy to sell it at that price, a contract is born.

I have to agree though that their attitude towards not honouring the sale price if you do subsequently discover it elsewhere on the site is a bit naughty, but sadly they`re not doing anything wrong. Poor customer service though, if people find out about this - it may drive people away.

From what I can gather they are open to suggestions, so it may be as well to write them an e-mail pointing out that you feel this is not good customer service : don`t go overboard : be firm and polite - you never know you may get a more favourable response if you put your thoughts down in writing.

This story has tarnished their growing reputation in my eyes a little, but I shall still hit their website once a week...

The way they spoke with me on the phone it wont be the last horror story you`ll here..they are obviously a victim of their own success and have far to many customers to worry about the odd one or two.

What p***es me off is i found these guys in jan when as far as i know they were just starting out and trying to gather customers thru the newsgroups etc and as i stated above have spent a fair bit ever since. If they want loyalty from their customers which they will once more and more e-tailors creep out of the woodwork they will hopefully treat them all equally.

Let me get this straight......

your moaning because you couldn`t be arsed to look through all the sales pages...to see that you could have saved £3.00????.....isn`t that your own fault.....

and another thing...what do you consider they owe you?....because youv`e been shopping with them since Jan (incidently....i was using them last Oct.....)...you expect them to remember who you are and wipe your arse for you when you can`t be bothered ......

HAVE YOU READ THE REST OF THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT OTHER COMPANIES......now they have something to moan about - non delivery of goods, faulty goods, credit cards being charged illegally etc...

HAVE FUTURE ENTERTAINMENT EVER DONE THIS TO YOU?

I use them all the time.....they are the fastest at delivery, usually the cheapest, and great customer service (i returned a faulty T2 with no questions asked)...........

IF YOU HAMMER PLACES LIKE THIS FOR SOMETHING AS MINOR AS THAT.....we`ll lose good e-tailers.........

and if you think that this constitutes a horror story - grow up!....you`d think they`d stolen your dummy!.........

Whilst in the great scheme of things, Haggis, Shaun`s complaint appears to be peanuts I think he makes a very valid point that this may be the start of a downhill slide for the UK`s favourite R1 supplier.

Just because you`ve been using them since October (and I saw Orbital live before they were famous...) doesn`t give you the right to slate Shaun for making a valid point, and particularly asking him to `grow up`.

This is a very senseless argument, Haggis, and totally uncalled for. I think you are the one that needs to get things in perspective, mate : the thread is about peoples` experiences with retailers - Shaun has done the right thing by bringing it to everyone`s attention, and I concur that he doesn`t have much of a case.

But it is a useful word of warning to us all, which is handy advice.

Calm down, matey....

You are all a bunch of doommongers!........

i have every right to have this attitude.......people are too quick to voice opinions which can be detremental to business` like FUTUREENT.........

You seem to have missed the point about who`s been shopping with them longer....I was taking the p***...i dont care if i was using them last october, he was using them since Jan..and you`ve been using them since 1984!...it`s irrevelent........

all i`m saying...is think before you post........without Futurent..the personal import world would be a poorer place.......

so lets look on the bright side side of life (LIFE OF BRIAN - CRITERION arrived today from FUTUREENT!!!!)..........and stop whining like a bunch of girls.........
