Android VLC remote control apps

admars (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 25th August 2015, 12:01

Just wondered if anyone has any recommendations on software to use on an Android phone to control VLC running on a PC connected to a TV.

there's a few listed at

https://wiki.videolan.org/Control_VLC_from_an_Android_Phone/

the google play store has loads more.

I tried one, but it had adverts which I'm no totally opposed to (would prefer none) but they occupied 1/2 the phone's screen!

There's quite a few free ones, so I'll update this post with my findings.

cheers

VLC Super Duper Remote seems pretty good after a quick play. Had to manually configure VLC, but the instructions were simple to follow :) App is free, small ad banner at the top.

played with 3 or 4 different ones

Wifi Remote play is my current fave, it's v simple, no frills, no adverts, but does all the simple stuff you want well, like fwd, rwd, play pause etc. You can also use it with Media Player Classic.
