Spam question

Snaps (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 9th December 2006, 09:39

I`ve been getting something just over 100 spam a day for some time then all of a sudden 237 within 16 hours, over 100 of them from different users on Earthlink. net all trying to sell me watches.
Anybody know anything about this lot or give me the recipe for a parcel bomb as it`s seriously hacking me off.

Snaps

Some days it`s just not worth gnawing through the leather straps.

hi,had the same problem with spam i have down loaded mozilla thunderbird it works great if you mark emails as junk it transfers them to the junk folder and it learns which is spam or junk and dumps them in the junk folder try it its free one thing to do is mark thunderbird as your default mail so all your mail goes to it hope this helps,
regards peter.

I`ve got mailwasher, and I can blacklist any specific domain name, then it`s a case of one click and they`re bounced back and deleted

mailwasher better be capable of spotting spoofed email addresses and refusing to bounce or i may have to come round your house with a baseball bat for bouncing emails to folks who didn`t send you them in the first place.
Attempting to "parcel bomb" spammers when you don`t even know how to filter them out would be optimistic especially as most spam is sent on spoofed email addresses from zombie networks

I accept thats its easy to filter stuff and I do use Mailwasher.
I was just curious if anyone knew of a reason why suddenly so much from that one domain.

Bit agressive there, and a little threatening. I shall have a quick word with the moderators about this.

And for the record, as far as I know, mailwasher is pretty good at spotting the original ISP of the mail source.
