TiVO on a Toys r us Cybermaxx

Hi There,
I`ve just bought a 3.4Ghz Cybermaxx pc from Toys r us, Excellent machine in most respects however when I bought it the guy said you could record tv just like a TiVO machine but I think I mis-understood him. I thought he meant you could record directly onto DVD but it seems I can only record to my hard drive which I dont really want to do. Have I mis-heard him or am I doing something wrong?

I think you misunderstood him.
If you have a TV card, and the right software, then you can take a TV feed via arial/cable and record directly to your hard drive. You could then, providing you have the correct format record it to DVD

Rob

a TiVo is a hard drive based recorder, not a dvd recorder. As the previous post says, you can record from tv to pc, then from pc to dvd if you have sufficient space, and a dvd writer of course.

Ahh, I see now, for some reason I thought TiVo was a DVD recorder, not sure where I got that idea from! I was just worried that I`d quickly fill my hard drive recording TV to it.
Anyway thanks for clearing that up for me.
