gadgets under your telly?

i was looking at some old(ish) photo`s the other day which were taken in our lounge
before my son was born, and they got me thinking how much technology in our house
has changed and moved on in just over eleven years.

in 2000, i bought my first dvd player (an LG DVD3200e iirc) which was attached to a
daiwoo 21" 4:3 CRT, below the dvd player was a crappy analogue blueyonder cable
box.... oh, and a dreamcast. internet was provided via a dial up connection.

fast forward, i have a LG 42" 3D TV, sky+HD, PS3, Acer Revo (XBMC), buffalo 1TB NAS
(all networked via a gigabit switch) and a samsung dvd / hdd recorder. dial up has been
replaced by ADSL broadband.

wonder what gear i`ll have in 2022?

Everything all built into one display device, with a combination of voice recognition and gesture control interface.

No, there`ll just be an orgasmatron in the corner of the room. Won`t need anything else.

in 2022?? More grey hair !! Just bought myself a Philips soundbar, as my Samsung LED flat screen had crap audio output. The sound bard comes with a wireless subwoofer and talks to the router for updates. Deadly box, though her indoors doesn`t notice the difference.. neither between SD and the HD channels on the TV...

I reckon we`ll have omnipresent displays by 2022 - wherever you are and wherever you look there will be a projected display for you to look at. Full glasses free 3D, virtual interaction, 4 to 8K resolution. All for a bargain $500UK per week.
