Arcam DV88 - Video pauses/audio blips

brendonw (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 23rd November 2001, 13:43

I recently purchased an Arcam DV88 brand new from a dealer. I would say a third of the films I have watched on it have either skipped/paused in video or jumped in terms of sound.

Examples of disks that did not behave - Audition (R0), Castaway (R2), Silence of the Lambs (R1) and a few others.

Terminator 2 (R2) and GoldenEye (R4) played impeccably.

Any one had similar problems or have any ideas ?

Send it back and get another one in its place, other than the disk changing layers, you shouldn`t have any other problems, especially on an expensive deck such as the Arcam.

Hi Brendonw,

sounds like you have an early version of the firmware. Contact your dealer and check. I bought one of these great machines last year and was very disappointed until I upgraded the firmware. Now I have very few problems. Remember though that not all discs will play perfectly on all machines, however expensive. Disney are prime examples of discs that give all sorts of people problems.

Do not change your arcam. It has superb sound and pics when set up properly. Check the Arcam webstie for contact details and get in touch with them. they are very helpfula nd prompt.

Regards

-Mat
