Page 1 of Firmware upgrade on Scan SC 2000

I have downgraded my firmware to V 1.80 to disable the macrovision which I have done, but when I try to upgrade to any other firmware version I get a Write Fail message on my TV screen.

Any one got any ideas?

Try re-blowing another CD.. Also make sure you get the firmware files from a good source such as NiVZ`s excellent site at http://members.scotland.com/NiVZ/scan/index.html. V2.08 works for me.

What media are you using, CD-R or CD-RW? What software are you using? Where did you get your V1.80 from? Are you closing the Session?

I`ve downgraded to V1.80 lots of times and gone back up to 2.08, 2.11 and 2.14.

I have used Cd-r ,Cd-rw, and I got the firmware from your site.

I have followed the instructions to the letter.

I`m using Nero Burning Rom version 5038.

I must have written them right as the first downgrade worked.

For anyone that wants to know I had version 2.07 installed when I bought it.

So what next, I hope someone can help.

Just to confirm, you got your player with V2.07, downgraded to V1.80 (from my site) and when you try to upgrade to any other version it says writing failed?

Have you tried the V2.14 from my site? My SC-2000 came with V2.06 and I`ve upgraded and downgraded lots of times, including down to V1.80 and straight back up to V2.14.

Paul,

Before you downgraded to v1.80, did you look at the software status screen? If so, did you note down/remember the number after the `ADV7172` line (the first line), this is normally 00000003 but I`m wondering if yours was/is different.

Hi Paul,
Did you get anywhere with this? Exactly the same happened to me last night. I`ve got 1.80, 2.04s, 2.08, 2.14 and 2.23. All have worked in the past except 2.23 that I never got a chance to try. Now I get write fail on every one. Mine was also shipped with 2.07.

I`m waiting for a firmware upgrade from Nelley at Scan.

I have tried burning with Nero and Win oN CD but still no joy.

If the upgrade from Nelley does not work I can only guess that there is a fault with the player itself.
