LG 3200e? A few questions please..

Jason Scott (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 22nd February 2001, 18:05

Hiya all,

After missing out on obtaining a Wharfy for £99 I began looking around at other players again. I`ve noticed the LG 3350e and the LG3200e and have the following questions about the latter..

1. Does anyone know if ToysR`Us is selling the LG3200e for £129.99?

2. What differences are there between the two machines?

3. Is the LG3200e region hackable via codes out of the box or should I, if decided, buy one mod-chipped from Techtronics?

4. Any other comments or feedback on the machine appreciated.

Btw..I`m trying to keep cost down - I`ve always wanted a player but its not something I`ll use all the time. When I heard about the £99 Wharfies I thought it was a good investment so if there`s anything out there to match but as close to that price mark I`m interested. The LG3350e tips a little too much towards the £200 mark for me at this time.

Thanks!

re your questions

1. dont know

2. LG3350e can handle mp3 discs out of the box and vcds with a hack

3. lg3200e is handset hackable provided its the latest (1.3) firmware. Seems to handle all disks including rce without probs. Version Big W stores has this firmware and is on £127.

4. Lg3200e seems to be very good forthe money good picture quality and very quiet. do a search on dejanews for the hack and how to get the firmware version

Where would be the best place to buy the LG 3200e? I was thinking Techtronics but given a remote hack is usuable on this machine would that be paying more for something it can already do?

Hello,
I purchased the LG3200e last week. Quite frankly, I am over the moon with it. As a first time DVD`er I have no complaints. The picture is superb.

I am running it through a scart socket into an 32" wide screen RGB tv and it is fully RGB compliant. Most magazines overlook this, but the manual actually tells you that it is RGB compatible.
I have connected the analouge goldplated outputs to my Dolby pro logic amp and it sound *****ing mint !

Most DVDs look amazing, stuff like gladiator ( disk 2 no problems ) etc will excell. The player can easily spot poorly compressed DVD movies and you can really see the difference - ie first region 2 copy of Seven.
Last night I watched region one Hollow Man out of the tin with the multi region hack..no problems there. RCE my arse !

So, in conclusion £127.00 notes from Big W superstore. bear in mind that I nearly paid £200 notes in another store.

I can safely say that I am laughing all the way to the bank.

I dont think the LG will dissapoint. Even my wife mentioned how much better Blade looked in DVD...believe me, that is a compliment !

Pete . Bristol.

Thats great to hear Pete! :)

I have one on order from Dabs as of tonight but they have none directly in stock. This will probably sound odd but who are Big W stores? Is that Woolworths or something? If so I`ll cancel that Dabs order and pop into my town center tomorrow morning!

Hello,

I am glad that my objective reply has helped you .
Big W is a sub chain of Woolworths that incorporates six or seven other shops under one massive roof.
However, I understand that they only have six or seven stores across the UK. I am not sure where other than Bristol. I think a little net or telephone research may help you.

All the best.

Pete

Try:
http://www.direct-electricals.co.uk/lg_dvd3350e_dvd_player.htm

They are listing the LG 3350 as £225 including VAT and delivery; £35 more than Dabs, but at least (they say) they have stock...
