XGA versus SVGA

David Banner (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 20th February 2001, 11:14

I had the chance to play with a Sony XGA projector over the weekend and was very impressed with the composite video output from a Creative DXR3 card.
Question is, if the maximum resolution of DVD is 720x480 is there any point using a 1024x780 (XGA) rather than a cheaper 800x600 (SVGA) projector. Clearly for computer screen output the XGA is better but will the picture be any better on the XGA while playing DVD as video output, or am I missing the point here?
Thoughts anyone?
Dave

You are not missing the point and are correct. The extra resolution would be wasted. DVD`s are comparitively low resolution but prove that you don`t need high resolution to look good.
