Help Please for JPEG Viewing

Reigatepaul (Harmless) posted this on Monday, 19th January 2004, 14:37

I have bought a Samsung sv dvd 50 combi.
I made sure the machine was capable of viewing JPEGs in the spec but cant seem to get it to work.
Took it back to shop but they proved that it does work????
Can somebody please explain what I might be doing wrong.
JPEGs are being burnt on to a CDr from my PC CD Writer.
Does it have to be DVD writer???
Strange thing is that the machine does work when a friend gives me a CD with pictures on????
And my CDs work on the same friends DVD player but not mine!!!

Any help much appreciated

Paul

Some DVD players will play Jpeg images burnt to a CD-R in data mode using a program like Nero.
I think some will only play the Kodak style photo CD`s you get from a photo shop?

If your DVD Player plays VCD then you can make a VCD with a program like Nero and just add the pictures instead of video and it should show the pictures on you tv.

It may also be a case that you can only use JPEGs up to cetain resolution size, like 800 by 600 or 640 by 480, check the manual.

Are you using the same software as your friend to write the CDs?
Also, check which brand of CD he`s writing to and try the same on your machine.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the tips.

It works ok when I use "CD Creator 5" off my lap top
But not using home PC which has supposedly got Nero.
I think it may be the PC tho because the Nero programme is not coming up when I do a direct burn on to the CD so maybe its not in right format??
Will try tonight and if not successful will try the other suggestions of size etc

Thanks

I converted by jpeg to Highmat format (downloaded highmat from microsoft web site) and all horizontal pictures play beautifully on Panasonic DVD player. Highmat even allows folders to be selected using dvd. my only problem is playing those pictures I had to rotate to vertical so that they would be upright on the TV screen. these will not play and produce an error message. Has anyone encountered this problem??

I have exactly the same problem with a Panasonic NV-VP30 combined VCR/DVD.

I wrote my pictues to CD with Nero V5. The horizontal (2048*1536) pictures are perfect but the vertical (1536*2048) pictures will not display.

If you find a solution please let me know and I will do the same for you.
