on a couple of recent dvd to -r recordings 30 to 40 seconds of the movie have dissapeared just after the start of the recording is this the begining of a problem or can it be caused by switching on/off other equipment on the same mains block or is it the blanks i am using, uaually ritek unbranded and datawrite 2x white labels which are the same disc.

ocasionaly the machine will shutdown 30-40 seconds after you start recording, when you switch the unit back on the word RECOVER will be displayed, whenn this has happened to me all i do is put the source dvd back to the begining and press record again. this has always worked ok for me and the problem seems only to ocure on cheap unbranded discs (i always try to use datawrite 1x yellow top @ 65p each out of around 500 discs i`ve never had a failure)

HOPE THIS HELPS

Hi i have a 20 and a 30 i always use discrite discs never had a problem apart from a small no of faulty discs as there always is
say 1 in 25. I have tried god knows how many discs and have now been using these for a year with no problems for any region recordings from a pioneer 717 (chipped) and a panasonic 75 (chipped) they are available from most pc shops or direct from the maker based in scotland (note i paid 17.00 for 25 they charge 39 delivered)

Hi,

I have the same problem with my E-50! After about 40 seconds the machine will shutdown and go into recovery mode!

After talking to loads of friends, it is down to disc quality! Verbatim are apparently the best! But are expensive! I have had this problem with both Bulkpaq and Datawrite 4x red top discs. It is very frustrating! I was concerned at first, thinking my machine was knackered.

I use a site called www.ukdvdr.co.uk.

I have just ordered some of there optodisc models, it says that these work perfectly on our machines. Give them ago! I will let you know when I get them.

Hope this helps?
