Panasonic DMR-50 - Disc Problems - Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thundercat (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 6th July 2003, 06:29

Hi everyone,

I recently ordered some blank DVD-Rs for my Panasonic DMR-50, they are the Datawrite Red Top 4X DVD-Rs!

Placed one into my recorder last night and it recognised the disc as being a DVD-R as usual, however after about 30 seconds after pressing the record button the machine rejects the disc and the machine goes into RECOVER mode!!!

I have used Bulkpaq Orange discs before and never had a problem, why is it that Im getting a problem with these, is it just a compatability problem? Or have I ordered the wrong discs.

Is there anywhere on the net where I can find out what discs will and wont work?

Hope somebody can help, Im at a loss. What makes matters worse is that I ordered 25 of them!!! Thats life I guess!

data-write 4x are not compatable with a lot of machines (including many pc writers) they also will not play in a lot of standalone players, in short they are a poor disc to say the least, however in contrast to an earlier post princo 4x do work fine and have very good compatability with set top players, i got 100 of these on a spindle the other week i`ve used about 50 and not had one failure. also the data-write 1x are fine for the dmr machines (yellow top)

HOPE THIS HELPS.

There have been alot of issues with the new Datawrite Red discs, it sems there have been an inordinate amount of bad discs relaesed onto the market. However there are no known problems with Datawrite Yellow/Grey`s...

Hi all,

Thanks for your help guys.

I have been in contact with the company that I bought them from and they have a agreed to give me a full refund! Posted them back this morning.

I have re-ordered some of the Bulkpaq Orange discs, used them before and they worked perfectly!

The company I used are called DVDRUK, they are very well priced and up to now have given excellent service. Highly recommend!

Regards.

Definitely use Ritek Dye Based disks, they seem to be fine in all my players.

Also, the RECOVER mode occured with me, and I was using a branded Panasonic DVD-RAM, it was just a dodgy disk.

If only everything was half price at Woolies !
