Problems with 5.1 standard on Philips MX 1060D

MaxDuesseldorf (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 28th August 2002, 14:07

Last weekend I bought a new MX 1060D. The first DVD "Lord of The Rings" played well with surround sound. It did not have 5.1 standard.

Then I tried several DVD with 5.1 standard and experienced, that I do not hearvoice while playing the DVD. I have all other surround sound elements.

Does anybody know why?

I had a similar problem with my Panasonic set up. Turn down the volume totally on your Tv set. Look at the balance of the speakers. Adjust it so back ones are louder. If I recall right thats what fixed mine

I have a Philips MX1060D system and experience the same problem with discs which have a 5.0 soundtrack (Friends). I can hear the credits and laughter but no talkie.

I e-mailed Philips about the problem a few days ago and will post the reply.

I talked to Philips on the phone, and they assume the center speaker is not working at all. Is yours working?

Mine seems to be defective at all.

My centre speaker is fine as a get some sound on it when playing the audio and is also completly fine when using it with other dvds etc.

What number did you use to contact Philips because I have not had an e-mail back yet.

Thanks
Andy,
