I am looking to purchase a buget dvd and by the looks of things the Dansai is the best 1. I want 2 play region 1+2 vcd and svcd. does anyone know if this player is availbe 2 buy online or if a clone of it is availble online?

Hard to track down a dansai 852 now,and the newer models are crap.But if you want a clone why not try the daewoo 6000D,it plays the lot.Try Bennets online store.Cost me £99.99,though i heard safeway were selling them cheaper.The recent medion in Aldi is also a Dansai clone of sorts,but it`s very cheaply knocked together,and looks awful compared to the Daewoo.Finally there is the Technika from hughes,but i don`t know what this is like.All are remote hackable.

So will this player be as good as the Dansa? is it better then all the other cheap players on the marker now?

Yes,to me it is almost identical.Sadly you cannot remove macrovision on the Daewoo,but in all other area`s it is just as good,and looks better.

Kiiro 838d is pretty similar to the Dansai. It`s £99 from amazon, and it`ll play almost anything, macro and region free out of the box. Small too.
