Page 1 of Modified Samsung 511 hack, for all those who tried the regular 38767 hack...

For all who tried the regular Thomson hack on their player(with all diffrent Regioncodes) and it doesnt work.(´No 02 appears on the screen)
--> like FM.

Before I found this hack, the numbers were visible on the screen when I pressed them after the Repeat button.
This hack will make them disappear and 02 will appear.and you can convert your player in a multi-region player.

Try this:

1. No disk in the tray

2.Cold start the Player (hold down play and stop on the Player for three seconds).

3.When the language menue appears press 3,8,7,6,7 on the remote in sequence ( I´m not really sure if I pressed it fast in a row or if I waited for each number to appear. Try it first in a fast way, if it doesn´t work try it slow.).

This seems to unlock somethig.

4. The DVD screen will appear.Press now Repeat,3,8,7,6,7 (the numbers should not appear on the screen anymore. If they do cold start and try it again).
The number 02 will appear on the screen for a short time.
Now press the button for the region you require(1=R1 etc.) or press 9 for an auto select mode.

5. Press open/close on the Player to open the disk tray.

6. Press Standby(DVD Power) on the players remote to close the tray.

Next time you turn the player on , you will have a multi-region player (or a player set to the region you specified).
If it doesn´t work close the lid after opening it, and press Standby afterwards.

This worked perfectly fine on my player. And I had the same problems like FM(described in earlier threads) before.
I just don´t know if it disenables Macrovision.

If anybody knows how I can check this, please tell me.

Hi!
The easiest way I can think of, in order to find out if this hack disables macro is simply to loop the signal through your VCR.
If the picture still is OK, the macro is disabeled.

Let us know what you find out.(Needless to say?)

Yep, loop the scart through your VCR and see if Macro is disabled or not.

However..if it`s still active, give this a go:

Rehack the player in the method used originally,
Insert a REGION 1 disc when you open the tray during the hack, and leave it in when you close it.
Continue to the end of the hack.

Why? `Cause thats how to disable the macro on a 709! :o)
(Trust me, my Sammy was multi region and macro off)

Unfortunatly the macro is not disabeled.
And the method Jumbo told me doesn´t work any other ideas?

Huh, I will try it today, but the very first 3 will select some language I suppose and it will not work... Ok, let`s wait for 2-3 hours, I will post new information here.

Trust me I had the same problems like you, and it worked.
Just keep trying.

Hi,you are right the firs three will select german language.
But once hacked, you can change the language as you like after the cold start.There is no need for entering the 3,8,7,6,7 twice after the first hack.
This seems to be permanent, but you can still change the R-codes as you like with te regular hack.
