Page 1 of CRACK CODE NOT WORKING FOR ALBA 114. Can you help? Please!!

I put in the dvd reviewer code for making the Alba 114 DVD player region free. It does play them, but there is no colour, only black & white.
Is this because I have the DVD going through the Video then the TV all on Scart leads? Or is it something else.
Please help. Im going out of my mind cause i have both region 1 & 2 DVD`s.

you have to use a scart lead and make sure the picture out setting is set to RGB.in you settings menu

Basically, your player is outputting NTSC from R1 DVDs, which your TV doesn`t support. You need to change this to PAL-60 as follows:

If there`s a disc in the drive, remove it and close the tray. Press DISPLAY on the remote to bring up the main menu, move down to the Display option and press SELECT.

Under Preferred Video Standard you`ll probably see "Content Specific". Press SELECT, change this to PAL, press SELECT again to confirm. After leaving the menu, you should now be able to play R1 DVDs in colour.

The alternative is to connect your player to your TV set directly. This should allow you to watch in RGB mode (provided your TV supports this), which will result in better picture quality.

I have now tried this, but it still doesnt work!! The setting was already on PAL. I also tried it on Content Specific, but that never worked eother. I even connected the DVD player straight into the TV, but still a black & white picture when I try to play R1 DVD`s.
Any other advice or am i screwed?!

I`m stumped. What`s the make/model of your TV?

The only thing I can think of is that you`ve selected S-Video input by mistake, but this would give a B/W picture from PAL DVDs too.

Have you definitely tried connecting a fully-wired SCART lead between your DVD player and the RGB-compatible SCART on your TV (normally the 1st SCART if there`s more than one)?

The TV is a Bush DV3. There is only one scart socket on the back of the TV so I have connected it properly.

No, I`m still stumped. I take it the Alba gives you a colour picture when you try connecting it to a different TV?
