Deep booming toilet noise (no don't laugh)
This is a funny one, our toilet upstairs has suddenly developed a deep boom sound from the plastic flush chamber box. My wife demands it to be sorted, as of now, or my life will be a misery.
I have heard this before in other peoples toilets and thought nothing of it. Now its happened to us.
So you pull lever which pulls up a metal rod in the flush chamber, and it flushes normally, but at the end of travel gives off a deep boom noise at near end of flush.
So what's the answer guys to rid the noise, do you need to change the plastic flush chamber box, or is there some sneaky trick to grease the metal rod, or something?

I had a similar thing and it was just caused by a washer, or a rubber valve wearing. Annoying, it's one of those things, that can be replaced for a few quid, but could take you hours to do (unless your plumbing skills are better than mine ;) )
but for a plumber it's a 10 minute job, but obviously will cost £50-£100 :(
I think last time it happened, just a bit of wiggling fixed it for me :)
quick google and if it's the same problem I had, it's the fill valve, you shouldn't need to buy the whole arm etc

OK, had a look and its not the fill valve washer with the float arm.
Its the washer behind the rod within the plastic flush chamber that lifts with the toilet handle movement, its definitely worn.
Unfortunately there are no screws to take it apart to get to the washer, but I did wiggle the rod around hoping to make a better seal, and its worked. Nice and quiet now.
For how long I do not know, but if it becomes a permanent noise, luckly the plastic U bend on the top of the plastic flush chamber can be unscrewed and chamber removed and replaced with new, assuming I can get a similar chamber.
I will look out for identical one, next time I am in B&Q or Homebase.
If I cannot find one, then its the Choagy method to put in new unit, but thats involving the dreaded plumbing.
