Page 1 of This waste of money makes me angry

This started off as just silly, and now it`s actually really annoying me. A fair while back (it may even have been last year?) we got some letter through the post to a Jamal Brown, Flat 4 at our address.

This was related to the charge of fare dodging (presumably at the nearby station) which the letter implied they admitted to. I rang them up at the time and told them that no such person lived, or had ever lived here.

And the letters kept coming, followed by court summonses, and today Jamal has received a letter threatening (presumably they are a he) his arrest if he doesn`t pay the fine the court dished out.

Obviously we aren`t a block of flats, you don`t even need access to private information to know that, it would have taken anyone involved in whatever machinery went through all of this to get this far about a minute to check if the actual address the person gave existed. But no, instead they chose to continue down this stupid waste of money route.

I might just ring them up and have a bit of a moan about the state of the economy and how this complete incompetence costs the tax payer money, just to make me feel better.

So I guess if there is a lesson here, if you want to dodge your fare just do it and give a false address, nobody will ever check.

Giving of false addresses can lead to the victim (thats you) plenty headaches.

We got one at our previous address when we kept getting court letters of being called for dury duty for a Mr Smith (not using his real name here). We just binned them and thought nothing of it.

Anyway after checking with neighbours, this guy had never lived in our house ever, and eventually a policeman did show up at the door looking for a Mr Smith who never turned up for dury duty as we had got his letters, whereby we told the policman that Mr Smith had never lived here, and assumed there`s one big mess up with dury duty administration.  

Just one of those things !

You really should pursue it - your address may become blacklisted because of it! This would possible end up directly affecting your credit rating...

That`s been illegal since my days in store, you can only add adverse information against an individual not against an address or building.
(Adverse Information being the so called technical term for what we all call blacklisting lol)

We keep getting letters through the door for random people at our address. I did keep sending them back to the sender letting them know the person doesn`t live here.
They still send letters out! I have opened a few after them ignoring my letters. All of them are debt, credit cards etc. 
Most of them are threatening stating the bailiffs are coming around if payment isn`t received within the stated time! Although we haven`t had any turn up yet!
This has been going on for years now and at least twice a year we get a new person living at our address!
