Imperial War museum (London)

We`re thinking of taking our eldest (6) down to see Mamma Mia in that big fancy London.
Evening show, so I fancied going to the imperial war museum in the afternoon.
That won`t interest the wife or daughter, so I`m wondering if there`s anything else in the vicinity that would interest them?
My wife isn`t confident enough to go around the London tube system with our daughter herself, so it would have to be something adjacent to the IWM.
Anyone know?

Some interesting things across the other side of the river including Tate Britain, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey.

On the same side of the river, Aquarium, London Eye, and further round Tate Modern and the Globe. It`s all walkable and pretty simple. The Google map shows it all quite nicely.

I seem to recall that the last time I went it was a bit of a trek to get to, and was in the middle of nowhere. I`d position the lady folk at the childhood museum and get the hell out of there.. if they can wander back, and its a nice day the IWM is in a park so they can have an ice cream or something.. and if you are still wandering round looking at the planes when they`ve had that, there is bound to be something in the Museum that interests them. even if its just the shop.

When looking at the maps etc, please dont say "Elephant and Castle shopping centre might be nice" because it certainly is not. DONT LET YOUR WOMEN FOLK ANYWHERE NEAR IT

Ooh, if the eye is close, then that`s a definite possibility.
They loved it last time, I bleeding hated it! :/

What do you reckon to them going to the eye, then me going to the IWM?
If it`s on the same tube line, I could just kick them off at their stop, then carry on to mine.
She could live with that, she just doesn`t have the confidence to do a whole tube trip herself, especially with a kid.
We`ll be staying in the Euston/Kings Cross area, I think.

My 10 year old daughter was one of a group from her school that attended the Commonwealth Day celebration at Westminster Abbey. They spent a couple of hours at the War Museum and she loved it.

I remember going when I was about 14 with me Mum & Dad - they had a big bit about what happens when a nuclear bomb goes off, including a bomb shelter that you could go in - think it was the same time Threads was out - had nightmares for ages after! :¦
