Any duties to be paid on books imported into UK via Amazon.com ???

sultan (Competent) posted this on Monday, 28th January 2008, 13:32

All,

I`m sure that this has been answered many times but I could not find the necessary thread.

I wish to order a book from amazon.com (USA), rather than order the same book through amazon.co.uk (UK). This is because the former charges $87 (about £45) and the latter charges £85.

Assuming amazon.com deliver into the UK and do not force me to use amazon.co.uk, would a book be subject to import duties, taxes, handling charges, etc.

If so, how much ?

Thanks in advance.
Sultan

Perhaps someone else may be able to clarify, but I was under the impression that books attract no import duties at all. So you shouldn`t be charged.
