Hoping to go down to Legoland in October with wife and 2 kids (9 + 7). Anyone know the best place to stay/best deal to be had. We`re in Edinburgh.

Thanks.

Travel Inn (or is it Premier In) at Heathrow - about 30mins from LegoLand. That way you pay for one family room (£50ish) - nothing fancy and it doesnt break the bank.

Yeah, we stayed at the Premier Travel Inn at Maidenhead when we went, which was about 5 miles down the road. Family room for about £50 - can`t go wrong! And the kids eat a free breakfast so long as one of you pays for a breakfast!

even if getting into the park does!!

Heard it`s a little pricey, but we`ve managed tp get some tickets via our clubcard vouchers and we`re taking along a substantial hamper of goodies.

Kevin, try to go during a quiet period. Last we were there (which is quite a while and things may have changed), we only managed to do 6 rides (there was a waiting of about 1 hour per ride), it was ridiculous. Saying the time before last, it was a quiet day and on some ride we did not even need to come out of the ride.

Yes it is pricey. A family of 4 costs about £120 I think. But if you pay full price you can go back for a second day free (as if you could afford to!)

Luckily there are many offers about, and we managed to peel labels off of milk cartons that enabled us to get a child in free with a paying adult, so for all 4 of us, it only cost about £60, I think (ONLY she says!).

The queues are horrendous. Good luck. The best strategy is to have one adult wait in a queue while the other takes the kids off for a walk, then come back with them when you are near the front of the queue. (Use of mobile phones or walkie talkies recommended!)

It`s a lovely place, but I have to say more suited to the under 10s. Your average teenager would find it quite babyish.

Just remembered I have some money off vouchers - probably free child with paying adult from memory - if you would like them posted to you, just pm me, as we won`t be going again this year!

Feeling a bit thick here. I didn`t even know Windsor Safari Park had closed, let alone turned into Legoland! Thought it was still there somewhere (never been there) :o

Edit: Actually that reminds me of when I took my eldest son to London for the day a couple of years back, and wanted to take him to the London Planetarium. No one bloody told me it was all part of Madame Toussauds now! Good thing there`s plenty of other stuff to do in the city, because we had no intention of spending the day looking at waxworks!

Think I`m starting to get old...
