New format Sky Movie Channels

girders (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 4th April 2007, 10:13

Just notices Sky have repackaged their Movies channels *again*. Gone is the simple 1-10 now replaced with -
Premiere
Premiere +1
Comedy
Action
Family
Drama
Sci-fi/Horror
Classics
Modern
Indie

And I know there was *always* a pile of crap on there but it seems even worse now, and with Soccer AM now being availableon Sky One I think now may well be the time to dicth the sport & movie channels (or at least when our half price offer runs out) Even with then having to pay the £10 for Sky+ I don`t think it`s worth keeping the films/sports on over the summer.

Since last Saturday apparently - I saw a trail for it just now and it`s showing in the EPG for this week.

I noticed the change this morning & some channels don`t start until 4.00 pm.

Todays The Day. Tomorrow can wait...

OMFG it`s much worse than I thought. Just seen a trailer for "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" which premieres this coming Saturday at 8pm on Premiere and 9pm on Premiere +1, and is then on Premiere/Premiere+1 at 8/9pm EVERY NIGHT FOR 7 NIGHTS!

FFS talk about overkill! Chances of finding anything worth watching (let alone paying for) are really shrinking.

I tried to cancel my movies yesterday, but because i would be losing a so called `premium channel` i would be charged a tenner for my sky plus, which means i would be paying more..

I wanted to scream "ya c***s" down the phone, but instead i am considering what to do.

I might go sky basic and join lovefilm or something, but then i lose sky plus - which in its own way has become my girlfriend...

Yep, way to go Sky.

Sky Premier & Premier +1 (channels 301 & 302) now not starting until 5pm. Channel 302 simply repeating 301 but one hour later. So effectively lost not only a complete movie channel but also several movies on during the day. Also, as said, that weeks premiere shown every night for a week, so another `x` amount of films they`re not having t show!

As for `Sky Modern` - newest film on there today was Rocky 5!!!!! Not that modern as far as I could see.

Mind you, rang up to cancel and they have given me the full movie package for three months for £4 instead of £16. `Bout all it`s worth ...

(Wander off chuntering about Sky taking channels from Virgin and now ripping off their own customers ........)

Think they`ve collated the channels well, with certain genres of movie being easier to find. I`ll be turning to Classics and Indie before checking out what`s on the other channels, for instance, and I`ll avoid clicking on Action and Family because I`m no great fan of those types of movies. It`s better for preferences.

Open the door for Mr Muckle!

Total Rip off. Less channels, less hours all for the same price >:(
