TOSHIBA 210SE MULTIREGION DVD PLAYERS AND RCE DISCS

CGODS (Harmless) posted this on Monday, 15th October 2001, 20:39

I am thinking about purchasing a Toshiba 210SE Multiregion DVD player, I have heard about compatability problems with RCE discs. (Richer Sounds website).

Does anyone know if the new Toshiba 210SE Multiregion DVD players can play these discs?

Hi mate and welcome to the Forums.

You may get more joy asking this question in the appropriate forum, which is probably the Hardware Forum.

Good luck finding your answer - nice player, by the way !

Hi,

I have a Toshiba SD210E bought from Leading Edge Concepts, which comes automatically as MR and RCE compatible using their no hardware mod hack.

The machine works perfectly on all regions, and in my collection I have 2 RCE disks and I`ve watched another 2 or 3 RCE disks belonging to friends and have had no problems at all.

The only thing is if you previously watched an R2 disk, then you`d have to stick an R1(non-RCE) disk in first and let it switch regions, then eject it and put your RCE disk in.

This isn`t much of an overhead at all, we`re talking 20 seconds maybe, and as my collection is 60%+ R1 I hardly ever have the problem.

Hope this helps

Chris
