Remember the bad old days when people like us had to wait for the early 90`s to buy widescreen videos at a premium price and full screeners had their own way for years well its happening again- certain studios are releasing full screen first and widescreen later i.e. CATS & DOGS

I now have to wait till after Xmas to buy this title.

Why don`t pan& scanners stick to video like nature intended and stop spreading their ignorance (I can`t see the full picture)?

They might out number us but we were here first

I couldn`t agree more, this new practice of some studios with split dates, or worse still pan & scan only is a load of rubbish - DVD was designed for widescreen and if a widescreen print is available it should be used.

I also object to pan & scan on the same disc, lowering the quality of the 16:9 presentation to fit it on.

Another reason to get DVDs on region 1.

I`m talking about R1- the U.S are doing this to please the pan & scanners

Studios should be educating people.

And besides, are these same pan&scan people - who complain about the lack of picture on the top and bottom - going to complain that they have to buy a widescreen version once they get widescreen TV`s?

Typical.

it seems that in the us of a where most of the studios are based the take up of wide screen has been less than in our little corner of the "free" world, and as we all know the one about pipers and tunes enough said i think

We won`t be "free" if Blunkett has his say on National ID cards, but this is a conversation for another thread... :-)
