Copper charges smoking cyclist

Brilliant
At the lights on my way to work this morning.
Cyclist with fag in mouth, takes last drag and flicks the butt away nonchalantly.
Coppers behind him pull him over and charge him.
Made my day. 8) :D

:) Shame we don`t have a jumping clapping smiley. Now for the pavement riding, no light at night, going down a one way street the wrong way, ignoring RED traffic lights & so many more things that some cyclists do. However I`d also like to Police to stop a few of the cars etc that havn`t had a service or MOT since the last century.

I was always under the impression traffic lights dont apply to cyclists. I`ve never seen one stop at lights, or at crossings when people walking across the road.

Aside from the littering, smoking while cycling (or any exercise) is surely making life difficult for yourself unnecessarily!

Why exactly do smokers, most of whom wouldn`t dream of littering otherwise, insist on throwing their butts on the pavement (if walking) or out the window (if driving) ?

We have several here who admit to doing it.
They wouldn`t dream of having their empty coke can bounce off the bonnet of the car behind, yet it`s okay for their butt to do it,in a shower of sparks in the process. :(

Any smokers care to offer an explanation/excuse ?

How come the fag they were enjoying so much, suddenly becomes something they need to eject from the car as soon as it`s spent ?

It is also dangerous to motorcyclists >:(

I think it`s just another instance of how inconsiderate smokers are.

When me and my sister were little we had it drummed into us by mum and dad never to drop litter, I can`t remember a time I have, and I don`t think my sister would ever throw paper/packets on the floor... but she chucks her disgusting fag ends on the ground without a second thought.

I actually had a go at her about it this weekend and mum bought her a little tin to try to get her to put them in that instead.

As an ex smoker I can attest to this. But, if you have that much dedication to your art you probably cant go fast enough to make it awkward anyway.

Dog ends out the window are a pet peeve of mine too. Driving along and all of a sudden your windscreen explodes in a shower of sparks......

Oh, and while were at it, cyclists who ride on the road when there is a cycle path 2 metres to their left. Im going to record myself saying `Oi! Theres a f***ing cycle path there` so I wont have to bother anymore. Honestly. There was this woman yesterday, cycling along, oblivious that a mile long que of traffic had formed behind her because the road had been narrowed to accomodate a cycle path, meaning the road was too thin to actually overtake her, against the flow of traffic.

The funny thing is it seemed like everyone who eventually went past her had a go, which makes her either incredibly stupid or totally bloody minded. If its the latter, i suppose you have to admire her balls.

Bone of contention here as well NTG
Our local council spent £350K on a cycle lane the length of the main road leading from the airport and the industrial estates alongside.
Barely anyone uses it.
The blokes in workgear on crap pushbikes use it,but the flash-harrys in lycra, riding mega-bucks bikes, still use the bleeding road.
If I come across these types,I make little effort to move for them (although I stop short of actually going for them...so far..)
If I get abuse,I tell them to eff-off and use the bike lane.

The offence of littering... £50 Fixed Penalty Notice now... so be warned! ;)

The cyclist does indeed have to obey the rules of the road as sset out by the highway code... i for one have reported a cyclist for dangerous cycling... 6" from the rear bumper of a car... upto a red light, he hops on to the pavement narrowly missing a pedestrian, crosses the junction, hops back onto the road... and continues cycling...

30 seconds later blue lights and a siren... initially refusing to give me his details i informed him he would be arrested... reluctantly he then decided to give his details... he said i will see you in court!

Funny i never got called to give evidence, but he got a £43 fine... :D :D :D
