ALIAS - The season 5 thread :)

Anil Khedun (Elite) posted this on Friday, 30th September 2005, 16:58

Right then, I`ve been looking forward to this new season for a while. I have to say though that, in my opinion, the first episode felt a little lacklustre.

SPOILER:
Some outfit after the "Prophet Five" book, which needs to be decoded, blah, blah, blah....Vaughn is someone else...who`s after the book? What does it reveal? I wonder if it`s connected to Rambaldi and all that stuff? More blah, blah, blah...

I`m not that impressed with the first episode as it feels like re-treading familiar ground, fingers crossed it gets better. But Jennifer Garner was pregnant while making the show, so is she going to sit the exciting missions out?

Anyone else seen this yet?

SPOILER:
I hope we`re not in for the whole "Sidney missing Vaughn" sentimental thing all season long as this would kill it for me.

What the bloody hell was that? I have never seen a more stupid episode? SPOILER:
They just let that Gordon Dean guy roam around one of the most secure and discreet environments in the world without checking him out properly? The whole killing off vaughan so early was just stupid and ridiculous. A person taking so many bullets as he did, well only in Indian movies could anyone survive as long as he did. He should have died instantaneously, not that he should have died at all. He is one of the main characters and I didnt really feel any emotion at all. I think the show has explored all the directions it could have and is now heading into a more stupid direction. The twists this show churns out, I wouldnt be surprised if that really wasnt vaughan who died and someone else, a double perhaps, or there is another, evil michael vaughan. Still I`ll continue to watch it.

Not a bad episode. Especially loved the kick from sydney :D

SPOILER:
Curtis:"Even if I told you, you wouldnt believe me" Could it perhaps be Vaughn? I sincerely doubt it would be Jack.

Looking forward to see Amy "Fred from Angel" Acker back on the screen in next weeks episode. From the previews, it looks very good but then again they almost always do.

Sad to see Weiss gone. They are getting rid of more and more characters who have grown on us during the past seasons. Lets hope these replacements are as good, if not better. Im sure he will make a special appearance ala Will Tippin in an explosive episode but I doubt Sydney will sleep with him too. :D

Have to say I`m absolutely bored to tears with this show now, nothing ever happens - even the action sequences are flat and the transition to a fully orchestral music score has killed the pace... Michael Giacchino is being stretched way too thin these days with Alias, Lost and a stream of films to boot. Back in the first two seasons everything was fun and vibrant, full of punchy electronics and memorable themes (I defy you to listen to the first season score and not be utterly captivated). It`s too serious and morbid now :(

SPOILER:
Vaughn`s death will kill the show... and if he somehow magically comes back it will do even more harm.

Weiss leaving is terrible news, and disappearance of Nadia as soon as I got to like her was also annoying.

Nice to see Kerry back though 8) Anybody else think she`s the hottest thing in the show?

Yep, I`m getting somewhat bored with the series too. It`s the same old thing all over again, with characters leaving, and new ones coming on board. I`m only watching it on auto-pilot at the moment and get distracted with other things while I watch the episode. Not a good sign. Still, I`ll watch it until it becomes totally unbearable in the hope that there`s something good to see. Might be my last season of watching though if it continues like this to season 6. :-(

Well the series started off p*** poor but it is getting better gradually.
SPOILER:
The new agents, Grace and Gibson, look really cool, especially Grace. Although there is no way he can replace vaughn, he will add much needed jazz to the otherwise dying show. Obviously there will be some sort of romance between the 2 newbies, there was some sort of electricity going on there. Hope we see more of Amy Acker. She would make a cool big villain or henchwoman if she plays out the whole season. The episode was very predictable, and that is worrying for the series. Whats happened to the writers? The credits have changed a lot. I think I saw Jennifer Garners name as a producer? Whats all that about?

I agree, the latest episode is better and hopefully will continue to improve. Jennifer Garner had Producer status since episode 1.

SPOILER:
With the new characters, she may eventually move aside and let them take over. I`m warming to the new ones and hope the storylines improve. The problem with new characters though, is that you can never be sure of their own motives, can you? What if she`s a double-agent? What if she`s meant to be a mole? What if...what if...what if...that`s the thing about Alias, there`s always something not quite the way it should be. Triple agents, moles, double agents.....and so on. Sometimes I can`t relax when watching a show, because I`m busy wondering if certain agents are more than they seem. That`s just me...maybe I think too much? ;-)
