Completely off-topic, but the new Orbital album ROCKS !!!

clayts (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 2nd May 2001, 00:05

Most people know by now I`m mad about Orbital, and pleased to say, courtesy of Amazon (and Switch007 - cheers for the voucher again, mate) the new Orbital CD plopped thru my letterbox at 6.45am yesterday and is now permanently attached to my CD player.

For anyone familiar with P & P`s work, `The Altogether` is completely different to anything they`ve released beforehand - hell, a track with David Gray singing on it (and it works well too, amazingly !!!) ???

Every track is mad, pacey and (what do these youngsters say) bangin`...Dr Who theme tune anyone - cool !!!

A definite must buy, but for those willing to hang fire, wait for the 5.1 DD mixed DVD-Video coming out soon (when, boys, when ?)

I`m due to see them live in Derby next week (my once-every-three-years gig) and cannot wait.

Does anyone else like `em, or am I talking to myself here ?

I`m a big fan of insides and the middle of nowhere.
Insides was one of the albums that kept my sanity during my final year at Uni.

Hows the new stuff compare?

Got it on Monday - excellent stuff. The Dr.Who soundtrack is the business.
Going to see them live (again) on May 10th. I think. Woo hoo !

Fielding, it`s totally different from MoN and Insides. Whereas those two have tracks that segue together into 30 minute sections, The Altogether has 11 loosely fitting tracks.

The more I play it the more I like it. I think it`s very much back to the eclectic mix on their first album (blimey - 10 years ago), but is a lot more in your face than anything they`ve done on albums before.

Roll on Tuesday......(Fecker : I won`t do a spoiler and tell you what they play - have you been to http://www.loopz.co.uk - great forum there !)

didn`t they also invent `sugar free gum`?

and then after that they did the 1997 `saint` theme.

Eeep !!! Don`t mention `The Saint` - worse thing they ever did. At least they got it right with Dr Who anyway !
