Glen Campbell

I am a big fan of the country singer Glen Campbell. Have been since 1968 way before most of you were born. Earlier this year I managed through a friend of his a personally signed photo from him. No not fan club type stuff. This was not mass produced rubbish. The real thing.

Last night she mailed me to tell me that she had been talking with Glen after a concert and I was brought up in the conversation. She told him that I had been trying to but a guitar pick (plectrum) on e Bay for a few years now. He went into his pocket and handed her the pick he had been using that night and asked her to send it to me.I`m over the moon about it. And before you cynics say that she is having me on. I have seen her in photo`s with Glen Campbell, and she is genuine.

You remember earlier this year he was sent to jail and during his stay he did a concert. Well I am also friendly with his guitarist Ken, and he sent me a great e mail with photo`s telling me all about this concert. I can e mail to any doubters.

Cheers guys

That`s great to hear. I love Glen Campbell from my teen years along with sadly departed John Denver.

I`m happy that you`re happy. :)

not a fan mate but good for you... at least he is a singer songwriter musician, unlike all the pop idol rubbish about today!

Not my musical taste, but I have to echo marksparks comments. :)

I`ve been walkin` these streets so long.....singin` the same old song..... ;)

My Dad was/is a fan and its all he played in the car when I was younger and I grew to hate his bloody music...but later in life as with most things I didnt like as a kid I grew to like his stuff...

as for picks/plectrums I have Mike Dunphys from a gig CUD played at ...maybe not in the same league, but cool for me :D

I promise I`m not making this up. My dad used to do a lot of travelling with his job and one night ended up staying at a fairly posh country hotel. The hotel bar was pretty quiet and my dad ended up chatting with - yep, Glen Campbell. They played darts, had a few drinks, in fact had a great evening. My dad said that he was a really nice bloke - no affectations, a fund of good anecdotes, and didn`t push the `I`m a famous singer` line at all. This was probably as well, as when my dad got home he asked me `what`s he done? I`d never heard of him` (my dad`s tastes in popular music begin and stop circa Duke Ellington).

Glen Campbell`s music isn`t my cup of tea, I`m afraid (I don`t hate it, it just doesn`t have any personal appeal) but I`ve always had a soft spot for him following that.

My mum is a fan and took me and my bro to see him in concert when we were nippers. It was great at the time!
