Shops......a new trend where they think they`re doing us a favour?

elephant (Competent) posted this on Sunday, 4th January 2004, 18:19

Just having a New Year rant witht this thread......:).It`s just I thought the idea with shops is that they advertise things,we go `ok I`ll have one of those` and we go to that shop and buy it.
Now however there seems to be more and more taunting of customers with good deals that are only available online, only available in store,in limited numbers, for one day only, only to the first 100 customers, have their prices increased to normal wihout a seconds notice, prices that no one can seem to find stock of,goods that when u arrive have been sold out days ago etc etc.
I have brought this up now due to a few fruitless trips to high street shops after seeing deals offered on the internet and in the national press. On at least two thirds of the trips I got one of the above responses.
This seems to be a recent problem.......is it due to all the high street shops suddenly realizing that they get loads of business from the Web but not being able to update them quick enough?
I thought customers were always right and if u saw a product available at a certain price u were doing the shop a favour by choosing them to buy the product from......not the other way round.
It`s just piggin annoying.......:(

I got caught out with the Virgin Megastore New Year sale on Film Video`s.

I bought three SALE videos that totalled up to £10.95.

When I got home I peeled off the stickers and underneath was more stickers stating:-
` 3 videos for £10 ` :/

DONE YET AGAIN ! ....So much for the sales.

This problem with Game and the extremely limited stocks of cheap Indy boxsets is yet another example of this current taunting of customers.
Some advertising big-wig has obviously come up with this and spread it around the highstreet: Advertise some great offer on the internet to get people into your shop and then have massive limitations to the offer......we are the customers and are doing THEM a favour shopping there..........not visa versa.
