BP Ultimate Fuel - Be warned!!!!

Neiliboy (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 3rd January 2004, 10:29

The BP marketing people are a bunch of idiots.

As some of you may know they have recently launched a diesel fuel called `Ultimate Diesel` and when you go to the pumps it is sky blue (just as unleaded is green, normal diesel is black etc).

Yesterday i went to a BP in London saw the sky blue pump titled `ultimate` and proceeded to put £40 worth of the stuff into my BRAND NEW car.

After 5 minutes of driving it didnt feel right so i stopped and called the RAC.

In the meantime i walked back to the BP and double checked i put the right fuel in.

Guess what - it turned out i put `Ultimate unleaded` into my car - and guess what colour the pump was?? Yes - sky blue.

The diesel pump says BP ULTIMATE and in very small writing it says diesel underneath.
The Unleaded pump says BP ULTIMATE and in very small writing says unleaded underneath.

They are both colour coded THE SAME COLOUR - sky blue. How stupid are these people???

Thanks to those dumbasses at BP ( i reckon they`re the same people who do the stupidly timed layer changes on DVD`s) I will be without my car for the best part of a weekend the inconvenience is a nightmare.

Damn you BP!

Neil

Bloody right you are Nelliboy !!

I put £5.73 worth of BP Sky Blue petrol in my new Audi last week, before I realised.
Luckily I called Audi and they said..."..if the tank is less than quarter full, fill it up with Diesel and I`ll be OK, but you might get a bit of soot..."
"Bit of Soot"....I nearly choked the street !!

Anyway, good warning, I should have said this last week...sorry.

This is as just as bad as Sarsons making the Vinegar Fliptop !!!

Neil.

Have you considered contacting BP with a view to compensation ? Just a thought.

This was on the telly a few weeks ago, watchdog i think, and BP said they were going to change the colour coding on the pumps. Good to see they are moving quickly. I can`t remember what was said about compensation i`m afraid. You might like to go here as a first port of call...

They definately featured this on Watchdog. BP ended up paying for the repairs (new engines?) in some of the viewers cars. Phone Nicky Campbell immediately mate :D

I have found the link that i couldn`t get earlier - text below is from bbc watchdog website (scroll to bottom, last article):

Quote:
BP Ultimate Petrol

BP`s new Ultimate petrol is colour coded blue, the colour that is normally associated with diesel. Daniel Granger wrote in to say he accidentally filled his diesel car with Ultimate unleaded, costing £160 to drain the tank. BP have refunded Daniel`s money and are improving pump signs and information. Customers who have experienced problems with BP Ultimate petrol should contact the number below.

BP Ultimate petrol customer care line: 0800402402

Hope you get something out of `em :/
